  • I am looking for a 2 bedroom freehold house. After indirectly experiencing the leasehold shit my landlady has to put up with over the years, I am not keen.

I could most probably get a good mortgage but with or without, my budget is still the same sort of range, so if I could do without then it would be ideal. I don't actually mind not being in central locations of London as long as it's a nice quiet neighbourhood.

For example, where I live now, it's a 1 bedroom flat in Camberwell, it could easily be £400K+, I am not going to spend that amout of money on a tiny place with no room to expand family wise or bike collection wise... if I went for a 2 bedroom + in the same sort of location, the prices are unaffordable mortgage or no mortgage...

And by the way, I don't currently have that amount of cash sitting in the bank ready to go, I will have to make some decisions before that may happen... so just toying with a number of ideas / plans...

  • Camberwell is a problem as any houses are so overpriced compared to the flats.
I own a 2 bed flat there at the moment but no way we can afford to upsize to a house in the same area.

  • I think its a common story in a lot of London. 2 Bed flats go for 450k to 500k in my part of SE10 and a small 3 or 4 bed house will cost £1m+

Double the bedrooms, double the money I guess.
