• Hi storers! I'm after suggestions for keeping 8-10 bikes in a garage.

Space isn't really an issue, but tidiness, access and security are. Attached the space in question. The back wall is 2.6 x 2.1 m. Once I've got the bikes and the back wall sorted, I'll arrange the rest of the garage accordingly.

I read most of this thread and no solution quite meets my needs. I'm thinking of storing them vertically up-down-up-down in two banks of 4/5 with a gap in the middle. The Clug looks like a good bet, but you can't store bikes facing downwards, plus you have to buy different ones for different tyres, meaning each bike gets a permanent parking spot, which I want to avoid.

I like the idea of resting them on one wheel on the floor and just having some hook on the wall to keep them upright, rather than bearing all the weight. I worry about damaging rims and/or expensive bieks crashing to the floor.

I've seen some designs where a horizontal scaffold pole with sliding hooks on acts like a kind of tie rack for bikes, so you can change positions, but I can't reconcile that idea with keeping a wheel on the floor.

    Anyone got any tips?

  • What about a load of hooks in one of the joists? You could hang a bike from each hook. Very cheap and easy.

You could even have two per bike and hang them by the handlebars?
