Will mounting a box of cake under my front rack like this be safe or will I die?
-
• #92003
Looks very sketchy. Why not just mount them on top of each other?

Inside edge of my brake levers hit the green one if it's right the way back. I also plan to put a bunch more stuff on top so I can do away with a bag on my back. Will put more bungee cords around them.

Lower rack?

Right. Well, it’s an old bike. What would you think is the best solution to the pedal threads getting stripped on one of the cranks (drive side, irritatingly)?
PS It’s not my bike, hence being a bit vague - trying to help out a non-technically minded friend

If you're trying to get away with not changing the BB, the FC-RS200 is probably your best bet. You're probably going to have to adjust the FD, as older Shimano road doubles are more likely to have a 113mm BB than the 110mm recommended for the RS200

Can anyone suggest why every once in a while my chain drops off the big ring on to the little / beyond on to the BB cluster. Tends to happen in bumpier roads, but occasionally it will happen when I rear shift.
Everything seems fine in the stand

Depending on how badly stripped they are, a good LBS may be able to repair them with a helicoil or something; they will also probably have some cheap (non-Shimano) ST cranks that will work.

get sport contact ii
lgg bit fragile compared to those 2, rando have shit rolling resistance compared to sport contact ii
-
• #92013
Don't think so. Rings only have 1000 miles on them.

FD poorly adjusted?
Either set up too high or goes back too far in.
Re-check and fit a chain catched so it can't physically drop

Seems like a punt when £40 gets you shiny new cranks with fresh rings

If I wanted to get my hands on ~40m of bubble wrap by tomorrow where should I go in London?
-
• #92017
Most of them self storage places have a shop in the front with bubblewrap and boxes.

You may find it cheaper at a garden centre sold as greenhouse insulation but depends where you go. I bought a massive roll @120cm width on a roll @80cm diameter for £9 a while back.

My place. I've got a box of the stuff, like 100m or something, you can have at that it turned out we didn't need. PM me if you want it. Was from amazon, quite cheap.

@Thrustvector @mdcc_tester
Thanks both for all the input. Now she has sent me some photos, it turns out they’re FSA Gossamer cranks on a JIS BB. Internet suggests the FSA BB is 110.5mm. Would any Shimano/Stronglight/other Asian manufacturer’s square taper cranks likely work?

Yes, as long as they are designed for a 110mm or shorter BB. You might run into chainstay clearance issues if you try to use something designed for a longer BB

I'm looking to ship some stuff from the US to the UK - maybe 30kg. Speed is not an issue, I just want the cheapest.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I looked on parcel monkey, but the cheapest was still 5 days and ~$200
Cheers
Even Claris has gone to HT2 now, so you'd be delving into some alarmingly shit OEM groups to find a Shimano square taper road crank, e.g. Tourney FC-A070
or the slightly less revolting non-series FC-RS200 which is no more expensive than Tourney
