Hurrah!

Grand, so thats when the bike is folded yes? the chain will not go around that section of the chainring when its folded, the tensioner pulls it taught away from the frame and is absolutely fine!

Ah, yes, I wonder why the bike shop guys didn't think it'd work. Anyway, cool, thanks for helping. Next thing is how to shift the hook thing on the front wheel? Any ideas? Ta

I guess they are not Brompton guys/gals?
How close is it? on my bike im lucky and had to make no modification to the hook!

Could you recommend any shops in west London that might be able to do it? Ta

New rim arrived today, awesome but still need to source black spokes that don't cost the earth...
Was most excited about the black hinge clamps that arrived in the same package, so bloody sex... Instant transformation... ;)

Laysist... ;)

OK, what spokes will do the job? Can get black Sapim Strongs cut to 146mm for AU$1.90 each ($2.00 with a black brass nipple) which sounds OK to be honest... What have I missed?

• #4235
Silver nipples ftw!

• #4236
They won't match my gold chain, bruv...
-
• #4237
Gold nipples? I bet you'll like some of these... ;)

Black hinge clamp washers are next on the list... 🙂

anyone had any issues fitting sugino 75s onto a Brompton? I’ve got a spare set of cranks sitting in the parts bin that I’d like to make use of, that have already been on a JIS bb so seems a shame to waste them.
Also carbon rims, any decent ones from Brompton out there I’ve just seen the hylix ones on eBay. Any durability issues for everyday riding? Is the cost too exorbitant? I’ve got a jig at home so can buy spikes and build the wheels myself, as long as the two speed rear doesn’t need dishing..
Also would the weight saving of carbon rims offset the weight of a dynamo hub? If so might make that change as well..

• #4241
General concensus is that carbon rims aren't any lighter
-
• #4242
this is true, gimme 5 i need to weight some rims...
-
• #4243
Brompton rim, 330-335 grams
JK carbon rim, 38mm deep, 340-345 grams -
• #4244
thats heavier than my 650b rim

Holy fuck, just realised I could put my black 75s on if they'll work! That would be totally ace...
Spokes on the way, went for black Sapim Strongs...

Bit late to this (just flicking through), but there is some blog out there from someone in NY who put some Marathons on ghetto-style, and they seem to hold. I hope so, as mine's going to have folding (ghetto)-tubeless Kojaks on Velocity A23 (legit tubeless) rims.

you need a 3/32 chainring, but you should be good to go. Have a couple of upgrades I want to make so will probably get that done at the same time..
-

Same 119mm BB? New Brompton BBs are JIS, mine's ISO so perfect for me as long as the axle length is OK...
-
• #4249
I’m assuming that’s the case, use existing bb and swap over cranks and chain ring. Speak to @hillbilly for more info..

Just spoke to my new mate at a bike shop in Sydney, you may have met him, Donny who worked at Cheeky Transport... He's been working on Bromptons for years and just told me S75s will work great, just need a black 3/32 chain with the same amount of teeth I've got on there now...
