That would have done me yesterday, will definitely nick that!

Nice! That's my pal John's route, based on my original Teapot Island 200 route but amended for the better.

Peak Audax series is coming up, really excited for some brutal Wednesdays in the peaks. All around 100k but over 2000m climb.

I was eying up the Mid Peak on 08/08.
I'm riding Tan Hill 200 on Sunday (63" fixed of course) though and I'm not sure my legs will be up for it. I'm staying in Blackpool, so would probably be about a 300km day.
I'm on a family holiday, so will have to pullthe plug on that one! (Although it is because of the 200 we are holidaying up there.)

I miss those Marple rides. Good luck if you have a go at the Goyt Peak super!

Avalon Sunrise 400 this weekend. Rather looking forward to the evening start, but not ridden this far since last year's National 400. Will be my first ride of this distance on fixed for a while too, so hopefully won't be too tough.
Goes past home about 2/3 of the way round too, so I'm debating whether to stop or not.

I'll be riding that one, as well as Staffs Peak and West Peak. Let me know if you manage to sort going!
@andy_k I've ridden that in the past but I don't think it's running this year for whatever reason? Horrendously hard ride. -

Its a complete and utter no go from me I'm afraid. Just the Tan Hill on Sunday.

I think I know the answer to this, but, assuming I can get the weekend clear on the 8th/9th, do I
- Fenland friends + 200 ECE, or go for broke
- Yorkshire via Essex + 400 ECE.
Both are complete polar opposites to what I've been doing all year, and I know it looks like I'm losing focus on my season goal of 100AAA, but hopefully I'll be chalking up the remaining 14points between now and August, but it seems like a good plan to finish the season big?

Rode the Vale of Belvoir III 200k yesterday. Reasonably flat, with a bit of headwind on the way back but nothing too bad. A bit of discomfort on the bike meant I couldn't really do the power I was hoping for, but that can be worked on.
This was the first test of the frame bag and power bank - ran a cable through the port out to my Garmin, which worked really well. It's a 5000mAh power bank and still showed full battery after a full day plugged in - the Garmin batteries are really small! Was nice not to have to fill my pockets with stuff, since I don't really like to stop if I can help it. Also surprisingly useful was the bit of masking tape on the stem with the mile counts for the checkpoints. Felt a bit lame doing it the night before, but I'll definitely do it again.

What's all that gumph on the stem

Just where each control is, so I know when to start looking for them/roughly where I am/how long before the next 'stop'. Didn't think it would be that useful since I can just pull the card out, but quite liked having it in the end so I'll probably keep doing it. I guess it keeps me from second-guessing first thing in the morning/late in the day and gives me something to count towards when I'm tired.

Ah yes, didnt read properly. Better than riding past wondering why there are so many cyclists stopped at a village hall and then turning around
-
• #7916
I always do that, makes it less stressful thinking have I missed the control
-
• #7917
What discomfort are you getting on the bike

All sorts at the moment! I've never managed to get my fit on this frame 100% right, but I think this time I mostly fell victim to not doing any long rides for ages, and not really riding a huge amount in the last year. That meant things like neck, arms, saddle (from sitting heavily when my back stopped working) suffered, and the Di2 shifters always seem to make my hands hurt if I spend too long on them.
I also bought some new shoes and can't seem to get the cleats quite right, but that's just going to have to be a work in progress, and I had to swap the seatpost and haven't gotten the saddle in the right place either!
Still, I managed the ride fine, so it's not like any of it is drastic - it'll just all need addressing if I want to go any further/do more long rides. Hopefully by the end of the summer, I'll be as at home on the Volare as I was on my previous frame.

And doing longer rides certainly amplifies any niggles, first thing I did after a 200km a couple of months ago was whack some more spacers under the stem.
-
• #7920
Yeah - it's funny, doing a long ride is almost a 'shortcut' to realising what's wrong with your fit if it always feels like 'something' is off but you can't place it on a 'normal' ride.

LFGSS CC on 79 points so far, not bad...
Anyone doing a Catholic Education this weekend?

Anyone doing a Catholic Education this weekend?
Can't make it on Saturday (looks like it's sold out anyway) but would be interested in DIYing it in the Sunday.
Do you have the GPX for it? -
• #7923
Yeah, here it is... https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26696425

Just entered Fenland Friends as my first 600....anyone else here riding it?
-
• #7925
Thanks for that. Haven't done much riding out that way. Have you ridden it before?
Great effort and nice write up!
I happened to be passing on the Thursday night as everyone was meeting at the van before setting off and wondered if there was anyone from LFGSS there.
