Get a small piece of tube to wrap the light around so it doesn't hang/swing around, wrap the light + tube around the bag strap

You don’t.
My advice is fit those bar-end lights instead, work a treat, and actually very visible, the Cateye one I recommend;

zip tie to a seatstay?

If you've got some shock cord or paracord or similar lying around you could make a loop and then thread each end under the straps on each side, creating a loop of cord around the back of the pack to which you could attach the light, might be a bit fiddly if you're opening it up a lot though.
Back of helmet/seat stay might be better!

I see there has been some chat about the Planet X / Podsac bags.
Has anyone tried them out on their bikes yet?

I’ll get a picture of my setup tomorrow.
But I have alpkit titanium pan with lid. Then inside I have titanium mug, knife and fork and msr quick stove. Then carry fuel cell outside. Use a zip tie to hold lid on.
If you hang your mug from your bag I will personally hunt you down and steal your bike. You don’t deserve to ride bicycles if you do that.

Might get those for tcr.

On two bikes I've mounted this light to the seatstay. Use some electrical tape and anything thicker like bar tape to get the angle adjusted.

Making a pack list for upcoming week long tour. Trying to think of all those "why didn't I think of that" items is quite tricky when you're sat in front of your laptop and don't currently need it...
So what are peoples "must take" items, beyond the obvious phone/money/tubes/pump etc?
And what are peoples "why on earth did I ever take that?" items you took, never used and will never take again?

Careful now - if you diss the dangle too loudly, doesn't a howling mob of Instagram bikepackers appear?

Headlamp.
Can’t believe I camped for so many years without one. -

Yeh makes sense, luckily I've got a decent one I use for work.

Toilet paper in a ziploc bag and a presta/schraeder adapter so you can top up your tyres at a garage

I’ll have all their bikes. They can walk.

With those zips? might make a bit of sense with low capacity. High capacity and zips has never ended well for me.
As far as I'm concerned. Heaviest stuff goes in frame bag for weight centering. Having a zip shit the bed at any point during a ride is a fucking hassle I don't want to experience again. -

Yes. I have used the waterproof seatpack (£20) and the matching bar bag for a 50 mile back lane/bridleway ride and they were excellent. No complaints at all for the money, and presumably they'd also be good at a slightly higher price! Was mounted on a Trek Crossrip and no noticeable swinging. Also, it was a dry ride but no rubbing/marks on seatpost/bars/headtube where straps were attached, so I'm very happy indeed with them. Will put up a photo if I can work it out/have time later. Contents-wise I could carry tubes/tools, change of clothes, flip flops, sandwiches (with space for a little bit more stuff) in the seat pack, and another jacket/phone charger/couple of other bits in the handlebar bag. Great if you're going somewhere where bedding/towels etc. is provided! For camping who knows, I haven't tried that yet and would probably go for rack, panniers and basket.

Has anyone had used any 8bar bags? Their frame bag seems like a slightly better looking version of the blackburn frame bag, minus a little bit of capacity...trying to justify to myself aesthetics > carry more shit
