I bought the frame and forks on ebay about 7 years ago and built this up. Ive used it regularly until leaving London recently.
I think its from the 90s when low profile frame were popular for time trialing. The handlebars are 10cm lower than the saddle, resulting in a flat back when down on the drops, the aerodynamic difference is very noticable. The paint work looks fantastic, although there are a few chips and scratches. The front wheel is a 650C and the rear a 700C with fixed hub.
The seat tube is 57cm, crank to top.
The lug welds are all removed to leave a very smooth finish to the frame.
The frame has mounts for front and back brakes, Shimano 105 brakes are fitted and very good. The rear brake cable is routed through the top tube.
There is also a mount for a rear derailleur shifter on the down tube with a derailleur hanger at the rear wheel.
The dropouts are vertical. Therefore to create a fixie that handles new chains stretching out, I use two rear sprockets. After fitting a new chain I use a 16 rear sprocket, once there is some slack in the chain, I switch the rear sprocket to 17 teeth. In the 6 years Ive been riding this bike Ive changed the chain twice. Both sprockets are included in the sale. I used a gear calculator to figure this all out.
Both bottom bracket and Campagnolo head tube bearings were new when fitted, both run smoothly without any problems.
The Shimano 600 cranks are 170mm and the chainring is a 45. Giving 71.4 gear inches with the 17 sprocket.
The saddle is a white Prologo Nago of modern styling with a deep central groove to stop your bits getting numb when cranked over on the drops.
The wheelbase is shorter than other bikes (97cm vs 100cm of my standard, modern Pinarello), this gives a very nimble feeling.
Since building the bike has always been garaged. This is one of three fixies Ive built.
