Nato’s loop between the bar and the watch rather than the bar going through the bit in the strap.
You’d need a tool to remove the spring bar if you want to avoid scratching your watch. Possible with a blade and careful hand. Then again you are chucking the old strap, just cut it off and leave the spring bars in place.
These look like it requires a bar to be there to loop through, but my ward looks like the current strap clips in somehow
