Looking to the future, the RMS will need to be done. What else should I look at whilst the gearbox is out?

Assuming it’s got some sort of torque converter, not much?
-

Yeah, it's a 5 speed auto.

Volvo not missing the opportunity at the ocean race village. A few cool cars and a test track where you could try out the latest SUVs. Couldn't be arsed to stand in line with the other fat middle aged men though :)

My car is back from the rollcage fabricators, they’ve done a really great job.
I mocked a seat up in there today and all I can say is it will take some some practice to get in and out

Is that a V60 in the middle? I can’t wait to own a second hand one of those in about ten years, assuming driving is still legal then. I got a nice postcard from Volvo and am keeping it perched on top of my fridge to remind me of my future precious.

Weld the doors and go for the General Lee entry/exit?
-
• #42935
I think so, but they also had a wrapped up car in a glass display box that said they'd reveal it on the 20th.

Will have one piece polycarbonate windows with only cat flaps for openings eventually, might be a squeeze

GET HYPE. Think that’s gotta be the S60: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/cars/new-models/s60

Any recommendations for MOTs around SE26? Cheers!
-
• #42943
Bit of a trek but we used these guys: https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/
I find the business model with a garage that does repairs also does MOTs to be a bit suspect. These guys only MOTs, so no reason for them to go on a fishing trip for "necessary" repairs

Yes agreed! That's why I wanted to ask for a recommendation :)

they are no win-no fee, too, which although questionable for the safety conscious, is helpful if you have an old banger with dodgy hazard switches/horn/etc...

Looks like they've done a proper job. Off to the painters next?
-
• #42947
Unfortunately no, still quite a lot of fabrication / resto work to do on other areas of the shell. although i am considering getting some outside assistance with that too.

Update on my bumper for anyone who cares (likely no one). The lower skirt detaches and the replacement was a slightly different design, so the longest bit was separating them both. Taking it for a wax and polish tomorrow and nobody would ever know. Volvo still haven’t told me if they’ll do it and what they’d charge.

I'm in SE6 and always head to the Test Centre in Blackhorse Rd in Deptford. Very sympathetic. No repairs either
I wouldn't bother with the ARB droplink unless the suspension is clonking under load, like going over a speed bump. The split gaitor isn't itself a problem - it just means the balljoint will wear faster than it otherwise would do.
Ah, ninja edit. Well, it is a cheap item, and it'll need doing at some point.
