Yeah i wondered about the cash purchase thing a bit when we were buying. The missus and I are both Irish and some of our deposit was in the form of a gift from parents, and we all (me and my parents) had to prove the source of the funds in the form of payslips and a years worth of bank statements.
I joked that they're hassling us for pennies when there are people buying million pound properties in cash with stinking money and no questions are asked.
I hope I'm wrong
