  • Needless to say I was livid. Found a specialist watch repairer locally and asked if they would be able to polish the scratches out - they said they’d try and to leave it with them... I gave their invoice to the first place and they agreed to pay for the work. The second lot have done a really nice job, only slight annoyance is that they’ve snagged the lip of the plexiglass between 6 and 7 o’clock... this is the kind of thing that will piss me off for a good few years... why didn’t I just leave the thing alone! If it ain’t broke etc... ffs :(

  • If they really are a specialist watch repairer and you trust them enough to build a relationship then get them to replace the plexiglass. It's possible that they gave this job to one of the saturday staff (everyone has to learn) or they rushed the job because you wanted a sameday turnaround. I always tell my repairers to take as much time as they need, the minute you start putting pressure on any job that requires care and attention something goes wrong.

It's worth building a relationship with someone you can rely on, so maybe give them a chance to rectify their mistake.

Btw, the new bracelet looks great. Good call, I did the same on my Rolex Oysterdate
