Talking about failure: my idea to strip the forks with alabastine was. Even coating it in the shit and leave it overnight and part of the day only managed to get off a patch on either fork "shoulder" and my ambitious timeframe of letting it do it's no-magic stained the exposed steel.
I will pop by the local community youth centre"offene fahrradwerkstatt" tomorrow to chase and face the frame. I believe last time I went I saw a blasting cupboard which would make sense because they also do metalwork. Fingers crossed that is the case, and hopefully my fork is paintless tomorrow. If it's not too huge of a ballache I might do the frame too.
