If you still get hotspots try runers/walkers insoles.
Large platform clip on pedals like time mx will let you use your bike with normal shoes,
and help you on the long commute. -

Thanks guys - I'm looking at these - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153052510451?ViewItem=&item=153052510451
Those Shimano XC5 also look like a shout - I'll see if my LBS can order some in for me to try out.

If your feet fit Sidis and you buy the models with replaceable tread then you have shoes 4 lyfe.

I like the idea of a cycle truck, but I have to wonder how much capacity that provides over the top setup (arguably more convenience admittedly)

Yeah , looks more set up for the city / daily riding as oppose to touring

You can carry much more and front wheel is stronger as well, so heavier things are no problem. But it is a slower ride for sure.
I miss mine a lot when hauling stuff round the city.
A rigid 29er with a sturdy rack will get you far enough tho.
Or sick bars and a good back pack

any recommendations for a 1/8th low trail fork? considering a rack/panniers option for my ti bike
Needs to be disc with guard mounts and clearance for 32mm+ with guards. Internal cable/dynamo routing is a bonus

Depend on your head angle innit, a fork is not low trail by itself. Thorn do 52mm offset forks which should help. You could spec a slightly shorter fork too if possible. 10mm shorter = roughly 1 degree steeper.

Edit: Thought that was Scoble's Oak for a second ^^^

Both bikes ace! Envy a months trip. Handlebar bag info on the rockhopper? Looks supported and unusual.

my HT angle is 72 -is that better or worse for front handling?
i know SFA about this stuff - just wondering about how smart it is to run some front panniers/rack on a tour.

Rack attachment doesn't look very functional...
