It was sunny and I was early - so I detoured via Westminster just for the sake of riding the whole length of the Embankment seg lane.
So zen right now.
Received a "Lovely bike, mate" from a rider overtaking me near Blackfriars.

Been commuting in the last few weeks after being off a bike for almost 4 years. Bought a heavy lump of an MTB, told myself I was going to take it slow and chilled and not let anything get to me.
So this morning I told a bus driver she drove like a dickhead for pulling a completely inappropriate overtake just metres away from a bus stop. Achieved nothing except causing further beef, wish I hadn't done it, hopefully lesson learnt.

I've had someone compliment my bike two days in a row this week, I'd say it's becoming rather tiresome if I must be totally honest [fans self with ornate edwardian fan whilst applying powder to wig]

XXVI XI leg tattoo guy gives no fuckssss.
I was down in Brighton over the weekend but totally forgot there was a London to Brighton ride on Sunday. So I had to cycle to Uckfield to get a train to London: But the weird thing was drivers on the lanes of east Sussex giving me loads of room, holding back, generally avoiding the possibility of any beef. FREAKISH.

Averaged 21mph on the way to work, thanks to the tailwind & a good bit of car drafting. Could've been higher, but when I got into the city centre it was mayhem because one of the major junctions (Armley gyratory) in the city (Leeds) was shut down due to a flood, causing gridlock. Had a bit of banter with a bus driver about it though, so that was nice to have a positive bus interaction for once. Really wish I hadn't worn jeans for riding though.

Over the weekend I changed the original handlebars on the SuperShopper for a high rise swept back pair. Getting close to ape hanger territory even! It was pretty upright before but now it’s bolt upright like a Dutch bike. Looks totally daft with the outsize bar on a tiny bike but feels great, like riding a kid’s bike. Dumb fun / 10

Came down the one way system in Crystal Palace this morning, look ahead and see a silver golf heading straight towards me. Swerve around whilst reminding her it’s a one way street - she then stops at the pedestrian crossing and all the peds quite vocally remind her aswell
