@Chak tubeless seems great, but I'm going v-brake, so rather poor tubeless-ready rims choice

Just bought some 1.95" Schwalbe City Jets for like £9 each if you're after something fatter than 42mm. Not sure they'll hold up on proper gravel but can't argue with the price.

Friend of mine swears by Conti Double fighters.

I run them on non tubeless rims and V's too...
Just go ghetto with a whole bunch of tape!

I have to disagree. To me that’s functional pengy. One of the ugliest bikes I’ve ever seen but can’t pin down what I hate about it.

I'm so used to 622mm wheels in one format or another that 26" bikes look like Moultons these days.
That stem's not helping either.

The red chainring, cheap-looking fork, saggy Brooks and negative saddle-to-bar drop, even with the limp dick stem, probably

I like it, but wow I didn't realize that a cruddy Brooks instead of a Flite on a Syncross post could make me feel this kind of sadness.
