  • I like it so far, rides well, specially offroad. Didn't tried gears on it ,only brakeless, but everything seems fine

  • Built pic?

  • Crappy phone pic and placeholder cranks, but here's how it stands now.

  • It's nice but only hiccup is that you can't set it up fixed (apparently it's not possible to put a cog on this kind of hub?).

  • I would get frame only, but the UK distro doesn't have any at the moment, except in XS.

2018 frame is E650 (oof) from the only place in Germany I can find selling it:
    https://www.bike24.com/p2271244.html

But I have found the 2016 version for E559:
    http://kingdomstore.de/shop/bombtrack-2016-arise-frameset/

It doesn't come with discs, but I could transfer all my bits across, saving quite a bit of money. In fact, I have some V brakes in the cellar, so the frame would be the total cost.

E559 is still a lot, but I really want sliding dropouts and the other stuff this frame has and can't find anything else that has all those features...

  • Thinking about a pomp, I'm 5'9ish (been a while since I checked) what size would you guys say?

  • Prob a medium, I'm 5'11" and the large is perfect for me

  • If you’re happy riding fixed with only a front brake then flip that wheel and use a 6 bolt cog. Chainline might need a bit of fettling.

  • Medium V4, small V3

  • That, or get a surly new ultra disc 135old like I did.
Do need two brakes in Germany though, hence disc and cog

  • You can get two kodes for that (paid 290euro incl shipping to Zjermany), excluding the 10% bc discount.

Some chaintugs and, as edscoble would say, bobs your uncle.

  • Should've gotten a black and not white.
Wouldve left the chainstay and fork paint and sandblast the rest: black socks while naked, classy aye?!

In other news, dropping my f+f off at the sandblasters this Saturday.
Will run the fork on the all city city bomber, transfer the kinesis crabon to the kode.
All parts are there, will build hopefully the next weekend.
Should be tidy, 650b 47c horizons, gun metal xt cranks, CK pewter headset. Need to decide to use the silver bb5s and sell black bb7s or other way around.
Will get a small fork mounted rack in July when payday has cometh again.
Might also be able to modify the cheapo v-brake stud rack I have already and save some cashmoneys

  • What I could also do is spray the frame nodder yellow (have a can lying around) and strip the fork the old skool way with nitromors.
Actually thinking about it, that would be the way forward. If I don't like it, I can sandblast it again.
White to nodder yellow fades are a bit shit aren't they?

  • Hell all the mounts and it's brakeless and haz that silly slapon mudguard thing. Step it up boyo! (Looks fun though, but getting too old and sensible for silly shit)

  • Brakeless is temporary, when budget and time comes it will get gears and drops.but rack first:i have a cetma custom copy, just need to get some new legs.

  • Some chaintugs and, as edscoble would say, bobs your uncle.

I am swinging towards this, partly because to be honest so far my test riding of this particular Arise has been a bit disappointing, so shelling out so much on the frame doesn't seem like the best move.

I do think it's probably the set up/parts. Those Kenda tyres are neither fish nor foul and slow it down, it has some VERY wide handlebars and I think the set back seatpost puts me in slightly the wrong position. Also the brakes are rubbish, even in these bone dry conditions - apparently they're pretty much useless in the wet - and the saddle is not comfortable. At all. But even with the saddle at the right height it feels like my power isn't going down properly.

Apart from that it's fine :)

What 650b wheels are you using @Rodolfo ?

@aka if I get one my build will be much more boring and sensible than yours!

  • home build wtb i23 or i25 on cheapo disc front and surly new ultra disc/fixed 135mm old on 47mm wtb setup tubeless.

should be able to build it this weekend. watch this space.

  • The "boringness"(?)is on the way, need to cobble together my weird drivetrain idea and build some novatec disc hubs up.
No need of chaitugs, get a 10 mm skewer hub and a threaded axle.

  • What's the weird drive train idea?

I am in the process of converting a cheapo novatec screw on disc hub with old skool cup and cone bearings. Idea is to able to ride the wheel with my normal 120mm old frames and the 135 kode, hence getting a 180mm axle and will add spacers when desired.
With the hub right in the middle it gives a give and take 45mm chainline either way. I might get a screw on disc adapter and dish the wheel for a 42mm chainline. If lucky, then the disc won't be too far out from the desired position and I can get it to work with some spacers on the disc is to post mount adapter.
A lot of bodging, but that keeps it a challenge.
    Expect failure though.

  • Talking about failure: my idea to strip the forks with alabastine was. Even coating it in the shit and leave it overnight and part of the day only managed to get off a patch on either fork "shoulder" and my ambitious timeframe of letting it do it's no-magic stained the exposed steel.
I will pop by the local community youth centre"offene fahrradwerkstatt" tomorrow to chase and face the frame. I believe last time I went I saw a blasting cupboard which would make sense because they also do metalwork. Fingers crossed that is the case, and hopefully my fork is paintless tomorrow. If it's not too huge of a ballache I might do the frame too.

  • More than weird,it's non-standard.Sub compact crank from a triple and an alternative to brifters.

  • Sweet baby blue medium V2 frame forks and headset cups

  • I’m sure this has been answered before but what’s the widest tyre any of you have managed to fit into your pomp??

  • 42mm (knobbly) in a V4
