  • I got them in the drawer somewhere, don't use them as have the bagman support. So your welcome to them.

  • That would be brilliant. Thanks.

  • New Camper Longflap arrived today (Margareta); I've also got an Andrea Barley.

  • Re: the Spa Cycles Canvasman - I've got the largest size and use it for commuting and day rides. I mostly leave it on the bike but it's not too bad to take on and off because the dowel is on the outside, not the inside like Carradice. This also means it fits different width saddle rails (disclaimer: not tested).

The straps it comes with are really poor, so I'm using some Carradice leather ones instead (£8.50 for 3 from Condor Cycles).

    Here are some pics:

  • Heretic

  • So a newb to all this Carradice saddlebag malarkey. I have a Super C Audax that I got second hand though almost brand new along with an SQR system: https://www.carradice.co.uk/products/accessories/sqr-system

It seems from this thread that everyone seems to use Bagman supports instead of SQR systems, is there a reason for this (IE Bagman good, SQR shit)?

  • I use sqr and think it's great

  • I've not used bagman, but can confirm that SQR is great. Piece of piss to use and lovely and secure.

  • How's the canvas? The stuff Carradice uses is my favourite bit about their bags, so durable and ages beautifully.

  • Nah, both are good (& a shout-out to the classic rack!); SQR needs more seatpost showing than the Bagman & doesn't support the bag from underneath, but doesn't put any stress on the saddle rails, so it's swings and roundabouts really.

  • The canvas feels a bit different to the Super C saddlebag which I also own. It's a bit softer/plusher and it's noticeably thicker - apparently they use heavier cotton duck than Carradice, so that checks out.

  • Interesting! And I like the single flap over the compartments. I think Carradice pockets aren't well secured by their flaps at all.

  • I've never had a problem with losing stuff from the side pockets, mind - this seems to be more of a problem if the saddle is back on the seatpost and the bag is attached to the saddle loops, rotating it from the horizontal. I quite like having one side pocket unbuckled and using it for flapjacks etc., as I can reach and grab them without looking.

  • My little Krypto lock fits nicely in a side pocket, and as above I've never lost anything out of them except the one time I stuck my wallet in one and didn't buckle it... found the wallet after retracing my ride (around town) over 5 kms.

  • Shameless plug - I'm selling a perfect condition carradry with sqr block for £35. I bought this from their factory store on eBay before xmas as seconds stock, as it has no internal pocket, but that never bothered me. Used it 3 days a week for 5 months.

  • I need a new dowel for my super C. Can I just get this from B&Q or something?
Snapped mine doing some enthusiastic bikepacking/gravel riding

  • From what I read about their customer service, I'm sure if you dropped them an email they'd post you one for free.

  • Or buy some carbon fibre tubing as an expensive and unnecessary ‘upgrade’

  • Now we're talking

  • Titanium ftw.

  • Strapping a pump in there would be an option too.

Stupid yes but also kind of fascinating.

  • That's genius. I use frame pump though :/
