• Super awesome! Can that old LX derailleur handle that amount of gear properly without any modifications?

  • Cheers! That oh so lovely M550 der handles the 11-42 great! Old B-screw had stripped its threads so I had to switch it out. But even the new B-screw isn't threaded in some wonky fashion, plain Jane middle of the threads.

I was a bit worried about the two smallest cogs but shifts into those too just fine. Even bought a WolfTooth RoadLink in haste but never needed to use it, go figure.

Since those pics I've changed to a M738 rear der. Having a bit more difficulties setting it up, seem to have bent the der hanger...

  • @mannkis love this sort of tweaking, good work.

  • Hi Popdown, The géométrie is weird, so it's hard to choose the correct size!
Mine is a M, i'm 1.76m. The frame is a little bit too long but the height is good. In overall, it's ok!

  • Thanks. I'm 1.76 too. What number size equates to an M? Its to replace a medium cotic escapade (effective TT 56cm) that I also find a little long too so I'm thinking the 52 (effective TT 55.5mm) looks about right for me.

Still seems odd that although i'm about average height i seem to be looking right down at the small end of the size range! I guess i just need to learn a bit more about stack and reach...

  • If you've still got the RoadLink and have no need for it I'd be happy to buy it off you?

  • Guessing postage from Finland would be about the same as from R2bike from where I bought mine ;)

  • That field broke three out of five of our bikes. One terminally. It was fucking brutal.

Agreed on how awesome said wolfhound was.

  • Top notch stuff mate, love to see conversions like this. Wish I had the tools and expertise.
    One day soon maybe...

  • 2.1in Nanos and a new cockpit has turned my Atlantis from a gentleman's tourer into a proper monsteur

  • I'm knocking for a good time (for a good time)!

  • Just got back from a 4-day round trip to Austria in the Karwendel region. Roads were mostly gravel(ish) with some pretty serious climbs and descents. I brought along my Lynskey Pro Cross and it was pretty much perfect for the terrain.

  • Looks rad, that fork look HR Geiger inspired.

  • Reeeeeaders. Sorry about the lack of bags and the child-carrying bar.

  • Hows the tire clearance in that thing? Pretty massive isnt it?
Looks nice and clean btw :)

  • Very large. I have knobbly 2.2s in there right now and the main restriction seems to be the chainstays. I don't know what the next size up is (MTB is not my thing) but I reckon there's 5-10mm in there.

  • This is probably the best place to ask so...
    Tire help needed.
I'm looking for 26" tires, something good for touring, but more road/gravel than typical mtb-ish rides. I think about Maxxis DTH, but they're bit heavy and Schwalbe Kojak, but they seem to be not so puncture resistant.
    Any recommendations?

  • Kojak plus slime inner tube if you're worried?

I've had 26x2.0 kojaks on my gravel thing and had no problems yet though.

  • I never had a problem with kojaks, they’re great.
If it’s not entirely road though, I would look at a file thread such as Schwalbe Sammy Slick, or Continental Speed King etc.

  • Thunder Burt, Thunder Burt, Thunder Burt. Tubeless obviously.

  • So narrow though.
