  • I’ve just added the btr2 battery and wireless/Bluetooth transmitter. From a full charge I left the bike untrodden for a couple of weeks. Now the battery is pan flat.
This can’t be normal. Any ideas regarding a solution?

  • The Bluetooth thing does hammer the battery, or it did when I ran one a few years back.

eTap- I really like it. IG button on the front mech is handy.

  • Anyone have any damaged / unneeded di2 cable they could let go for free / not much?

Want to have a play around with some mods to wire through bits of frame but don't want to butcher full price working cables if I don't have to, a cable with a knackered end that would otherwise be waste would be very useful...

  • How much are you looking for for these?

  • They'll probably sit in the box for a year while I fuck about deciding on a frame. Much like this year.

  • My first foray in Di2 is going to be a 1x time trial build. I’m trying to figure out exactly what bits I need. Planning on:

Dura ace one button per hand shifters so I can go up with the left, down with the right.

Shimano Ultegra r8050 11 speed rear mech.

    Di2 EW90A 3 port junction box.

Then I guess some cables and a charger.

Is there anything I’m missing or any reason that combination of bits won’t work? Thanks!

  • You forgot the battery.

  • Ha! I should stick to mechanical.

That minor detail aside, is the three port enough or do I need a five port? I assume there are just two cables that come off the shifters and then one that goes to the rear mech? I can get the junction box in the stem, no idea where I’ll hide the battery though...

  • Ooh looks like you can get internal batteries, so perhaps this can go in the seattube or something. I’ve got a Cervelo P3 frame so will have to see whether it will go in.

  • My setup: each shifter plugs into that box. Another cable goes to another box near bottom bracket with four sockets. From there separate cables go to front derailleur, rear derailleur and battery.
You need access to the front junction box for charging, putting it in the stem may not be practical.
You should read this whole thread before buying anything!
There is good information and diagrams on Shimano's website.

  • Thanks, that’s super useful - definitely got some reading to do! I’ve snagged a Tririg stem so access to the front junction box in the stem should be ok for charging. Need to figure out the bottom bracket/battery set-up.

  • Anyone want to buy my 6770 shifters, very good condition etc - £80?
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • Considering upgrading some bits from 6870 to 8050, anyone after a well used (there are the scuffs on the shifters and one on the rear mech) gearset? @Dick has first dibs..

  • 6870 to 8050

    why?

  • Always such a neg-head

  • It's marginally better?

  • is it? in what sense?

  • Rear shifting (supposedly)
    Wider cassette range
Di2 buttons on top the shifters
Wider tyre clearance for the brakes
    Not scuffed

@Dick I got lapped in a 2/3 crit last night. Will take any gainz going, although the none of ^ will help :(

  • You can put a wider cassette on your current 6800 if its the 11-30 you are talking about.

Di2 buttons on top the shifters

Yes but I've heard that the blutooth drains battery, quoting @danstuff or @Dammit (not sure who said it).

    the brakes

Yes but you can always get the brakes on the current gears ;)

As a #buyer I feel your urge but R8050 and 6870 is the least worthy upgrade. 6800 to R8000 yes!

  • I can't believe I'm being talked out of a marginal upgrade by the original #buyer

  • I apologise. But 6870/9070 and R8050/R9050 has the least upgrade gap compared to any other upgrades.

Brakes is the biggest argument but you can always get them.
