It's a crazy world when a man can't ask for some Jones loop bars without the cost in the Jones loop bars without the cost thread...

Don't suppose anyone has a set of Fu Manchu bars they want to get rid of do they?

I have Nitto Fairweather Bullmoose like THIS:
The whole bar is 22.2mm diameter - would putting a set of bar ends like THIS:
Snugged right up to the bullmoosey bit as pseudo aerobars be a terrible, terrible idea?

Do it! Its never gonna be the same without somewher to rest your elbows, but it defs helps to stretch out and get low in a headwind

So will I soon cos I've ordered them. Gonna be skewering weekend warriors left right and centre on red routes across the country.

I stuck a pair of straight short bar-ends on an On-One Mary bar, which is set quite high. Because the bars have a big crank forward before the sweep back the bar-end point inward at about 30 degrees. It's a really nice option to have, mostly when I'm cycling into a headwind or want to tuck out of the rain. Because the handlebar is set so high the position on them is a bit like a raised aero bar.

Do you have any pictures of your setup?
I have a pair of Mary bars on my Genesis, but when I tried mounting bar ends I couldn't get them to play nice with the bend in the bar. -

I'll take one tomorrow. It is a bit of an arseache and you may well lose some anodising off the bar. I had to pry the bar-end clamp slightly open with a big flat-bladed screwdriver to get it round the bend.

And then you'll cut the bar width down a bit....

I'm on the hunt for some of those Controltech bar extenders actually...
-
• #266
To make the bar ends longer D:

Get some VO Crazy Bars, sell me your Marys...
-
• #268
You could get some of these from Charlie https://www.charliethebikemonger.com/deluxe-bar-end-bar-extenders-3663-p.asp
-

Same deal here. You have to file the bar end clamps on the inside of the bends into an hour glass shape to make em fit snug.
@umop3pisdn Dont bother trying to get control tech barends to work with hope bar plugs.. lol
Edit: its possible, but spent way too long doing ridiculous mods and filing stuff.

Man, I didn't realize that they'd raised the price on marys. I think I paid less than 10£ when I bought mine.
I wouldn't give them up though. They just fit my daily ride perfectly. -
• #271
I know I'm being cheap, I'm keeping an eye on their website from time to time.
I'd like some wrist angle but the reach (on the Omnium) is already short so if I'd fit a Jones or similar I would need a 200mm stem... -

Ergotec Moon or Lady Town 31,8 or 25,4 might be your best bet then. Not as wide as marys but really cheap.
I actually really like the look of the Lady Town 31,8. -
• #273
They look good but they are "reach shortening" too apparently. Humpert/Ergotec are always a good shout though.
Luckily a well-know Texan of this parish has just PM'd me and will sort me out some Marys. Fingers crossed they are what I was hoping for! -

I see. Good luck with the marys. I'm certainly happy with mine.
