@scrabble. The route is easy to bisect, skipping Exedown. If you can stand the ribbing.
Turn left into Pilgrim's way. Then climb Old Terry's Lodge Road. It's a nice steady climb.
Then sit on the roadside and wait for the group to come round.
Or, do the whole route but bail into Pilgrim's and do Old Terry's Lodge instead of Exedown. This might be a bit slower though...
Exedown is nearly the best bit!
