• Well, fuck. You see what happens Larry? You see what happens when you install a 30cm high metal pole barrier less than a car’s length behind a parking bay?

Have emailed and called Volvo for a quote, and I fully expect to have to chase and chase them to find out if they’ll even do it for a model they’re not making any more. That being said, if they do, I’m anticipating somewhere in the £650-£900 price range for a new bumper. Any advance on that?

My preferred local garage “doesn’t do crash repairs”, although when pressed they said they will swap a new bumper in, although didn’t specify whether they’ll source it.

Can/should I just try and find somewhere that can courier me the part and do it myself? I don’t currently have access to my hanes manual, but is it likely to be a job I can do on my own without specialist tools and without fucking it up more?

  • Yeah rear bumper swap shouldn't be too much hassle. Lots of torx bolts (inside rear arches too), rear lights out and it should just slide off. Should be much cheaper.

  • Yeah, that does look to be the extent of the fixtures. Any tips on where to source the part? There’s some on eBay, but could wait indefinitely for the exact right one in the right colour to crop up.
