We shall see, I don’t have high hopes though. Got some black tape ready to go anyway :)
In other news, bought this KM on Ebay a while ago, £20! 1981 vintage (so I believe from the serial number anyway)
Too small for me so doing (a typical) Neo Retro build with a friend.
Sumo might recognize his old groupset, and phildas his wheels. Think the bars and pedals were from dicko
Currently only got a cheap saddle and pedals spare, think they’re going to be replaced at some point.
We were somewhat foiled by the braze ons for the cable stops. They have a notch on one side and take m4.5 fixing bolts. So we’ll have to fettle a standard cable stop to fit.
Lbs (seabass) have offered to convert the existing m5 bolt to 4.5, and we’ll cut a notch out of a standard stop so it can sit flush against the frame. Long!

I've been exclusively riding my Bullitt for the last 6-7 months for commuting, dropping off the little one at daycare, shopping etc and it's been great. It's a solid bike with a 2m wheelbase. Today however I decided to take out my Quantum for a spin. It was like #newbikeday, it took a few minutes to get used to riding a "regular" bike again. The handling felt sketchy in the beginning but then it felt super fast and precise! Oh the joys of switching bikes up.

Lovely bike!
I imagine halving the wheelbase between bikes is pretty fun!

Parts bin/eBay special. Groupset will either be tiagra from my road bike or a 1x9 flat bar mashup.

Oh I know that feeling well! I commute on a Bullitt too, but I've just built up and started riding a Kinesis Aithein. Quite a different ride.
Hunt wheels, Fizik finishing kit, Ultegra R8000 groups, running 52-36 / 11-32. I'm doing a lot of mountain riding next month. The low gear is amazing for keeping a smooth cadence. Gonna need it, I'm climbing the Zoncolan!

Great looking bike ...
Zoncolan: Yeah, I'd need a sub compact for that.

Thanks man. It was pretty scary at first tbh, my first thought was that there was something wrong with the bike but I couldn't figure out what the problem was. It took like 5-10 min untill i got the hang of it again.

Yeah hell of a different ride but you get used to it easily though. I read on a Bullitt forum that it's a frequent problem for everyone that's used to riding a cargo bike apparently.

After my first day at my current job, riding Bullitts all day, I got back on my fixed to ride home and immediately stacked it into a wall. Can imagine only riding a Bullitt for days/ weeks on end would amplify the effect!

Surely will darken with hand grime? Could clean with a bit of Jif (or Cif) to brighten the saddle a bit.

• #119744
It will darken with time/use/dirt.

New tyres & new rear derailleur. Not a single chain drop in eighty miles on Sunday, yay! Definitely worth the £30 to replace the bent one, rather than my multiple unsuccessful attempts at bending it straight.
Now need to resolve the stuck seatpost & eventually get around to using those straight blade carbon forks I've had lying around for ages.

If you're UK based http://theseatpostman.com is great for stuck posts.

I've heard of that guy before, certainly something to consider at some point. Going to give it a go with a vice & some wrenching first, haven't really given it a proper go yet.

Before you go biblical on it take the seat tube bottle cage off and invert the bike. Then spray proper penetrating oil through the bolt holes to soak down the sides of the tube.
-
• #119749
Ah, using the seat tube bottle cage mounts for this is a good idea. Has anyone got any recommendations for a good penetrating oil?

PlusGas.
Fizik used to do matching saddle and bar tape combos and they did do a yellow one.
But yeah. IME matching yellows is otherwise unpossible.
