I think Tao and Bernal would make an excellent team for the Vuelta, they definitely seem like they work well together.

There’s a fantasy league for the women’s tour by the way.

Exactly this - from what I can see his whole approach all along has been to very sensibly not rush his development and to take the next steps when he feels he's properly ready for them - e.g. the amount of time he spent at Axeon before moving on to a pro team.
So far this seems to have really paid off while others who were promising talent starting out around the same time as him have burnt out/plateaued/not really got anywhere (as is unfortunately so often the case).

In fairness I’d say he’s also a level above them.

I hope he has a better trajectory than Pete Kennaugh, though Pete’s still got time to get results for himself. (Of course he already has Olympic gold etc)

With Rowe not finishing I wonder if they will take him to the TdF? That leg break was nasty and he has made a massive comeback but maybe 3 weeks will be to much at the moment?

Lots of riders DNF'd on the last day, an early Cat 1 meant half the field was out the back, and if the team didn't think it was worth it, then there's no point in hauling yourself over two more climbs.
His position as road captain and also ability for the cobbled stage means I'm 99% sure he goes, fairly sure he was at the TDF team training camp on Mount Tede too.

Sky don't work like that thou do they? Especially when they have the yellow jersey I don't think they would have said its ok to have the last day off.
-
• #18368
Of course they would. Rowe’s job was to work hard on the flat stages, add grunt to the TTT squad, and organise the team on the road. On mountainous days his job would’ve been done by the penultimate climb at the latest, so once he was dropped yesterday the team would have told him to climb off as there is no point him continuing to the finish.
I think he’ll go to the Tour given how he’s recovered from his injury, but yesterday’s result has absolutely no bearing on whether he’ll be selected or not.

Festival over the weekend, missed all cycling action. Today I'm reading up and happily discovering that Mathieu van der Poel convincingly beat Nacer Bouhanni in a sprint and won the Ronde van Limburg (UCI 1.1) This kid, wow.
