Weight savings or just spendy?
I’m all about the weight saving! -

Is there a reason more people don’t put fancy road cranks on bromtons? Chainstay clearance?
There was one on YouTube with sram red cranks. They’re light -

Similar issue to using them on track bikes - the inner ring tabs can contact the frame.

Yeah. Wouldn't fold.

Considered it, but thought it was too much of a faff when you want to roll, so just got the little rack I posted above. Fold and roll

I don't think Chriscross is on here but, he is on CycleChat and he has, I think, at least three Bromptons all of which have been heavily modded in the direction of weight loss, aided and abetted by his access to machine tools. Some fairly radical mods, albeit no titanium frame. Yet.

Hello, please could you advise about the 60T chainring? I got one from NYCE bikes, took it to my local bike shop but they felt the bike wouldn't fold properly with it on because chain would hit the stay. Any thoughts or recommendations on how to accommodate it (and allow the bike to fold)?
Cheers! -

the chain or chainring hits?

Carbon rims are no lighter...
Best thing you can do wheel wise IMO is just go 2spd rear and build a front with a superlight hub / wheel build - https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/wheelswheels-front/sjsc-for-brompton-front-wheel-black/

Thanks for replying. I don't think they got as far as putting the chain on because they felt it was going to hit the stay (pics attached) if they would have done. So it was more that the chainring was extremely close so adding the chain would have led to it hitting. This was a v good lbs in West London. Cheers
