Does this actually work out lighter than using a carbon post?
I don't know the tubing used in this build, but a 650mm Columbus XCr seat tube is 275 gram. A Zipp 330mm carbon seatpost is 170 gram and needs a minimum insertion of 100mm. So yeah it sort of does make sense if you're going for lightness.
True, but the Thomson expander weight needs to be factored in. Which will hardly be weenie. If youre chasing weight an external seatmast topper like this would be the lightest I'd imagine. Nowhere near as cool though
