I’d agree that there are issues with implementation but rarely are individuals the best judges of the risk they are putting themselves at, especially when most at risk; in this case sleep deprived.
If you believe that to be the case then ultra-racing is definitely not for you! The fundamental premise of it is self-reliance, the rider is responsible for everything and takes all the decisions.
My point was Bjorn would have stopped for a few hours sleep earlier, if his schedual had not been manipulated by the new rules. So in effect, the new rules caused him to go for longer without sleep.
