  • I have moments where I feel sorry for Theresa May. Very brief ones obv. but this is one of them.

    What a shower of assholes.

  • Johnson suffers from the Eton delusion as so clearly - and devastatingly - demonstrated by Cameron. Bought a network of contacts (with a sideshow of posh education) that might allow him to smarm his way into become Prime Minister, while actually being wholly unprepared to lead modern Britain in any way effectively. And being lazy - an attribute evidently shared by Cameron and Johnson - is probably also a likely characteristic of the kind of person inclined to pursue the Eton short-cut. Self-belief turns out to be self-delusion (albeit with the sad consequence that the country has to bear the consequences).

  • They can as long as they are in government. Once they are out, they’ll set about settling scores.

  • I'm ashamed to admit it but despite the fact that I feel she is a vile woman, I very occasionally feel a pang of sorrow for her also.

I then hammer a funnel into my ear and pour 4 litres of hot mind bleach into my obviously malfunctioning brain.

  • Cameron by some accounts wasn’t lazy.

And I’m not sure what lazy means in this context? Sitting around and twiddling their thumbs? Dicking around on Internet forums?

I think about the Jobs quote - want something difficult done? Ask someone lazy to do it - they’ll find a way. Paraphrased.

I think Scheming captures it better.

    But then David Davis......

  • I think occasional moments of empathy for awful human beings mean we haven't (yet) joined the awful human being club :)

  • Not a fan of Cameron but apparently he wasn't too bad in negotiations with the EU and a mate with the Dutch prime minister in the EU. Which helped his case (both Tory bluekip types and anti more EU rules / cooperation)

BJ is I think really just useless. If he becomes prime minister, well, em... Shall we just say it's bad, and leave it there :)

  • Well it helps if they are at least lazy and loyal! Or there's something in it for them to deliver along the lines you want.

May needs to sack him and suck up the fallout. But then she needs to sack Boris, too.

  • I would cite examples of Cameron's laziness as being: doing little on the Scottish referendum until the last minute (and relying on others - including the likes of Gordon Brown - to bail him out); doing pretty much the same for the Brexit referendum all the while nonchalantly claiming to his EU counterparts that everything was going to be ok. Someone who wasn't lazy would have realised that there was important and urgent work to be done far ahead of the deadlines. It wasn't for nothing that he was known by some as the "essay crisis" Prime Minister. And by some accounts he used to spend most of his days playing Fruit Ninja :)

    One of many examples:

Future historians will probably be arguing for years to come whether
he really needed to promise an In/Out referendum on the UK’s
membership of the EU, as his defenders claim, to protect his flank
against Ukip. What is not in doubt is that Cameron believed he could
win it. It became a cliché to call him an “essay crisis” prime
minister – a gibe that must have seemed meaningless to millions of
people who never experienced the weekly rhythms of the Oxford tutorial
system. And yet he never really managed to banish the impression of
insouciance. The image of chillaxing Dave, the PM so cockily laidback
that he left everything until the last minute, may be a caricature,
but my guess is that it will stick.

  • The cheese comment 😂😂😂

  • I think Scheming captures it better.

They're pretty much the definition of Machiavellian

  • Brexit trade proposals will not be published until after EU summit

Detailed plans on the UK's post-Brexit future will not be published until after this month's EU summit.

Theresa May will summon senior ministers to an away day at Chequers in July to settle details of the white paper and find a common way forward.

  • There was literally no point publishing those until they can solve the Irish border.

  • True

  • Brexit/Russia kicking off again thanks to the very odd disclosure by Isabel Oakeshott that she has had thousands of emails between leave.eu and Russia that she never looked at till now

  • She's so disingenuous, and also a nasty little facist.

  • Land Rover to switch production of Discovery model to Slovakia from 2019 - from where will the tories get their iconic British brands now?

  • Is this the iconic British brand owned by Indian conglomerate Tata, previously American Ford, and Germany's BMW before that? You need to go back to pre-1995 before you can call it a British company.

  • British owned
Morgan Motor Company Ltd (Aero 8, Plus 8, Roadster, Plus 4, 4/4, 3 wheeler)
    Caterham Cars Ltd (Seven)
    Mclaren Automotive (570S, 540C, 570GT, 650S, 675LT and P1)
