Fake facebooks are hard, you'll eventually get squeezed out.
I have FB but I just don't use it. This was the first time I've touched it in about 8 months. I ignore what email notifications it sends me (and then disable them when I do eventually log in ) and I just never check it for anything. No app on phone either.

She must be going up Gibbonsville Road after all. Maybe she's given up (either on rejoining her path or the whole thing) and just heading back to civilisation as quick as possible now?

Do it now.
When I quit bike racing I’ll quit Twitter and ig. I wish I could do it now.
I’ve taken a break a few times.I’m working hard to live in the present and be present. It’s not easy.

One of her recent location updates was next to a house. She may have asked about the road going NE, got a call from a friend, got data signal, got WiFi, etc.
Wisdom, recoup and then retrace looks like the most likely option now.
She's still (just) the female leader at the moment, but Simone is only a couple of miles from passing the point at which Tanja deviated and Tanja has 20+ miles to do to get back to that point.
But if Tanja is only just behind after almost a whole day lost out of 5 days then there's no reason why she shouldn't get able to regroup and retake the lead. They're only 1/4 of the way through this race.

Depends how he feels.
He’s not in 100% health. But he’s a fighter.
I think he’s in a better place this year. And I think he’s sleeping consistently, I had a go at him a lot about that. He’ll get to the finish as quick and he can and he’ll fight like a dog to do so. He’s hard as diamond.

When she made the initial error it looks like (ML) Matthijs Ligt was right near her or they were even riding together?
I don't have Facebook, but still visit the FB group. Anyhow I'm thinking of posting Evan's day recaps because they make good reading, similar to Skinny's race analysis.

Yeah do post I’d like to see them. Tag me. I don’t have tome to follow the race this year (hence no updates from me), so I’d be keen to read them.

Any time I'm having a bad day on the bike, I'll remember TH on this day.

The time stamps on her tracker suggest she wouldn't have had time to stop and ask anything substantive at the house... I think she got a call or an unexpected connection to some data signal that allowed her to see she was taking the long route.
Wisdom, recoup and then retrace looks like the most likely option now.
I agree... also about 24hours since her last sleep. I know they are superhuman but wandering around in the bush all night without a clue has to be super draining. She'll need some sleep and a good feed.
I've only been properly lost a couple of times but it definitely sucks.

This and Stephane Ouaja getting lost up a goat track on an Alp in the middle of the night a couple years ago.

Hippy doing 2.8mph as well, is he walking? Maybe he'll update us at the top of the hill
Edit: oh, didn't realise that was 55 minutes ago

I remember how horrid I felt when I missed the turn towards Cwm Penmachno 100km into a 400km Audax. I did about 5 minutes of an stunning descent down towards Blaenau Ffestiniog before I twigged that something might be wrong. Cue 15 minutes bonus climbing.
Only cost me 20 minutes (not 17 hours!) but I was sure it was going to screw up the rest of the ride for me (especially as I was out of shape and worried about the time limits). Can't begin to imagine what this must feel like.

I remember when I lost about half a season on Championship Manager. I was in charge of Sparta Prague circa 2001. We'd got to the semi final of the Champions League, top of the domestic league, it was all going so well.
All disappeared after the plug fell out the wall or something. Back-up or however it saved didn't work. My heart wasn't in it as soon as I restated and lost the first two games in a row. Didn't play again for about 3 years.
Ultra-cycling probably isn't for me.

Nice extrapolation. It's a metaphor or something.
"All those game save files will be lost like tears in the rain. Time to die."

Hippy's tracker has missed two half hourly updates. Makes me wonder if that stretch of road after the junction has no data signal, which would make sense given Tania's shenanigans.
Although, I don't know how those trackers send in location data?

Was just about to ask the same thing. Expected something 7 minutes ago but nothing. Other riders seemed to pass that point with no problems - I thought they were overtaking him until I realised it was an hour old

• #1795
Maybe he ate his tracker.

or found more pancakes.

And she's back on the route!!!! PHEW!
Surely next move is to head towards Wisdom to recuperate, no?

Wise
Good for you.
I should do that. In fact everybody should do it.
