Entered the Big Half
I'll do this again too. Also aiming for 1:45!

Strange shoe question, but does anyone know of a road shoe with lots of rubber tread on the mid/forefoot and little/zero rubber on the heel area? The outside of the midfoot area wears down very quickly for me and the heel rubber is just surplus weight.

Any shoe with a minimal drop should have this I would expect.
You could google barefoot running shoes, but then you might feel like a bit of a wanker.
Merrell used to do good minimal drop shoes (but then changed the soles from Vibram, to their own make). As did Inov8, before they stopped making road shoes.

Sounds like a Hoka Clifton - the heel scoops upwards so there’s less material there than in the mid foot. I think Hoka have a name for the design and maybe have other shoes with the same thing but less cushioned if moon-boots aren’t your thing

Meta-rocker
That’s what they call it

I was thinking low drop...but I quite like the 8-10mm drop I have on my current shoes because I do use the heels, as they help give the calves some respite when I concentrate on midfoot strike, but they get so little wear that bare foam would suffice...

Altra? Never tried myself but think that's their market?

Nike zoom streak LT 3 might work. 4mm drop and little heal, but enough for some cushioning.

Headed to Battersea Park for the Assembly League last night. There were a lot of runners; the start was a bit of a mess. Then I ended up dropping out about 2.4km in as I was struggling to breathe - a couple of seconds after stopping my nose started pouring with blood, which wasn't ideal. Has anyone else had this when running? It was pretty humid and the pollen count is supposed to be high but not sure what would have caused it.

Briefly Returning to bags/fastpacking... instead of the 32l* i've bought an omm 1.0 sleeping bag at almost 40% off at wiggle.
Concern I'd be too tall but on fitting try last night I can both stand up and lie flat with hood feeling tight, think i'm about on the height limit tho.
Hope to test in the wild tomorrow night, as part of my not convergence to convergence.
700g & huge bulk (5l) saved vs usual bag = result.
'*Will probably still buy 32l if it comes up discounted sometime.

What sort of rating is that do you think?
My bodgy straps have arrived. Will rig some compression things up and go for a run this weekend or next week.

Sounds a bit grim. I was never going to make it last night after two weeks on the bike (LEJOG) and very little running, but while I was jogging an "easy" 5 miles around the park and heath instead, I reminded myself that I often struggle breathing round Battersea Park at this time of year, so this might be significant. I've also suffered occasional nose bleeds but never whilst running (or connected with hay fever as far as I can tell), so not sure about that side of things.

The zip on that bag looks really awkward for getting in and out of. Particularly for getting your legs out when in your tent. Mines a half zip and it’s still a right faff.
Took my salmon peak 30 out last weekend. Was much better than the fast pack 25 but has a few flaws. Will be fine for the rest of summer I think.

Ah, I thought it was just me who slept upright!

Shit I missed this earlier, hope you're feeling ok now? Heat plus pollen maybe?

Reviews reckon 5deg comfort but it hasn't got an EN rating. Defo a summer only bag, also should make a good combo with my softie kilo 2 season for family camping.
Hope strap bodge works ok.

It won't be perfect but at £112 instead of £400+ for the likes of phd i'll take my chances on the compromise!

Slumped against a tree/rock maybe?

Maybe have your platelet count checked at the doctors. I always suffered nosebleeds when I was young (not recently and whilst running fortunately) and have a low platelet count

Haven't run for two weeks due to holiday inflicted laziness, off to Endure 24 tonight to set up my tent, hopefully my legs have remembered what's what come midday tomorrow.
Yes, that's the Endure 24 I pulled out of due to illness but a spot came up on a team so I won't be doing anything too silly, will get some sleep, won't be running solo - this year.
