I saw part of this too actually. Seemed like there were two cars involved initially?

@jakemcree The driver rammed the cyclist into a parked van. The owner came out his shop to check his van was ok while the poor dude was standing there with blood over his face. Solid priorities.

Did it seem as if the rider and driver knew each other or was it some random encounter that got out of hand?

Possibly difficult to tell, i find some people use "cunt" as a term of endearment, others not so much.

From today expect major chaos on Broadway Market until car drivers learn that the London Fields School Streets scheme means no motor traffic eastwards on Westgate street from 8.30 to 9.15 am and from 3.15 to 4.00pm and also no motor traffic westwards on Landsdowne drive due to Bus Gate operating 7am-10am and 3pm-7pm Monday to Saturday.
Once the drivers learn to stay away cycling should be much better. -

This is obviously a good think in the long run, but I fear that Pownall Road (which I happen to live on) will become even more of a rat run with drivers constantly speeding.
Also, after the initial consultation, as a local resident I have not heard anything about this until now, so I expect there to be utter chaos.

I have commented further with a picture of utter chaos from 9.10 this morning, in this thread:

@Oliver Schick It was a random encounter that got out of hand. Well not that random as I think the driver had cut up the cyclist earlier on the market, words were exchanged, the cyclist sped off, then the dude basically commited in my eyes what equates to attempted murder. Great to hear ahead it traffic calming measures round there. Crossing into the park has always been pretty ropey at the best of times.
Saw a guy get rammed off his bike by a 4x4 on broadway market earlier. Intentionally. Lost a tooth then responded with a cable lock to the bonnet. Then the driver tried to run him over again, crushed his bike, then sped off. About 90 people saw it happen - it was right outside a very busy Dove pub. Terrifying moronic psychopathic behaviour.
Police got his plates so hopefully will get caught.
