^ it's in the plan for my bikeshed build.
It will involve a double skin of pond liner, over battens on a boxed in OSB roof, about 50ish mm of soil and 20ish mm of gravel fill, an overflow pipe, and plants from a list that I found somewhere.
I'm building the shed myself, so can be certain(ish) that it will be strong enough.

Following from the trench digging talk earlier - where canni find someone that will dig a trench for money?
It took far too long to dig far too little over the weekend, and it's fucking knackering. Particularly as there is concrete seemingly randomly buried in the garden.

I was looking for something like this for my folks.
I've got a whole load of questions if that's OK?
- Was it easy to fit?
- What's to stop someone pulling it off?
- How long does the battery last? - I guess it's in the housing?
- Which one do you have?
- Is there a mic/2-way talking
- Do you live on a busy street? If so is it always being turned on? (my folks are in a terraced house on a busy road with a fair amount of foot traffic as well)
- Any other thoughts?
Cheers

Stumpbusters?
Planning to hire one to remove 8 or so stumps (biggest is 12" diameter) and eventually replace the line of trees with a fence (since I've read you can't plant anything for a good while until the roots have rotted away).
Anyone done similar?

Anyone familiar with installing a pivot sliding cabinet door?
We're having the bathroom re-done next month and I need to install two...

Well known fact that if you have enough room for anything other than a bath, bog and sink then its called a Shit Palace and not a bathroom.
-
• #14059
The reason we need these pocket doors is precisely that it's too small...
We have a sink, bog & corner shower enclosure (too small for a square one) in three of the four corners. The fourth corner, behind the door, will have a wall built on one side (to divide it from the toilet in the other corner) and will house the washer / dryer (not enough room for separate machines) on the bottom and a coat cupboard at the top (not enough room for one in the hallway).
The lack of room is also why i need pocket doors. You can't open the doors on the current cupboard and open the bathroom door at the same time...
It's definitely not a Shit Palace.

definitely bigger than mine by at least 3 corners.

You can fit a washer/dryer in your bathroom AND have a dump with your feet touching the floor? Definitely is a shit palace.

Was it easy to fit? - 4 holes in the wall, rawl plugs, screws. They provide everything you need including a drill bit for brick and spirit level. I found it easy
What's to stop someone pulling it off? There's a security screw at the bottom that you need the special provided screwdriver to remove. Ring replace for free if it's stolen
How long does the battery last? - I guess it's in the housing? Yes rechargeable battery in the housing, can't comment on battery life yet but it tells you % in the app and you can buy as many battery packs as you like to always have one charged. I guess life depends on how you use it. You can wire it to the mains if there's an existing bell
Which one do you have? I have the ring doorbell 2
Is there a mic/2-way talking? Yes it's awesome
Do you live on a busy street? If so is it always being turned on? (my folks are in a terraced house on a busy road with a fair amount of foot traffic as well). Yes I have switched off the motion sensor as cars driving past were triggering it.
Any other thoughts? It looks goodUse a decent drill with hammer action if drilling brick and it's easy

where/who is it that colour matches to Farrow & Ball colours? Will they do it off a name only? I want matt emulsion in something close to Oval Room Blue but less pricey.

Johnstones have little greene colours preloaded into their mixing machines. May have F+B too?
-

Top choice of colour, we have it in our kitchen living space area and it looks lovely.
I found this website recently for colour matching, worth a look at

(We didn't buy the paint, we're the suckers that paid premium dollar for the house that had it already)

You can get a solar mount from the ring website which will keep the battery topped up.

Jumping in as I have had a ring doorbell for about a year now, so thought I could give some thoughts.
- You can set sensitivity zones, so can specify how large an area and what angles set it off.
- If they have an existing door bell you can power it off that
- The Wi-fi isn’t brilliant on it, so make sure you get a decent Wi-fi read outside the door, if not you can buy the chime pro which works as an extender
Nest have just launched theirs in the UK too, a bit more money but has some added features, like facial recognition and pre-recorded messages, which could be handy if your folks take a while to get to the door...

What are people doing for bike storage in small spaces? Front garden only.
Girlfriend has said under no circumstances are bikes allowed in the house which I'm mostly ok with as I've gotten a local self store unit to put my mtb and nice bike in. But we both have commuters worth about a grand each, which would be hugely inconvenient to have stolen.
Thing is, the place we live is quite secluded and quiet, and a lot of our neighbours just lock their bikes to railings etc, but ours is the first you see as you enter the development. That said our garden is fairly hidden by trees.
Am I foolish to consider a wooden shed with floor anchors?
We are struggling to justify the price of an asgard/trimetal unit so soon after buying the house...

sounds like the best option in your circumstances, not too expensive nor hard to DIY one

Overlapping sliding doors would be easier/cheaper.
Shed roof planter.
Who has done one, how much, etc and so on?
