  • Noice, why hose clamps? Could just get a cantilever mount front rack

  • I have a few racks already that mount on fork eyelets so I’d like to use one of those if I can.

  • Short tour tomorrow and the first real Miyata test, rebuilt a old rack for the bike.

(barends are tuned in know, was a bit fast with the camera.)

Building this on the side, steamroller 1x10 with discs and 1,75" tires.

And the barends is just a test ;), i think it will be a good complement for the miyata.

  • What tyres on the steamroller?

  • New biek: Commuter and Tourer for this summer, really happy with it.
I need to change the Mudguards as those are shite; Should have gone for SKS Longboards to start with.

  • So - 20mm tyres will fit in the frame no issues at all.

Will I kill myself running a 20mm tyre on a 23mm external width rim? I've included a pic of how it blows up but there's probably only 40psi in the tyre so I'd expect it to sit a little wider.

Second question - do I need a screw-on cable guide for under the BB shell or will these guides do the job?

  • I've done it on the front (20mm on a 24mm wide wheel), and that was a Supersonic which is smaller than a GP4k. It's fine, guess you might reach the limits of grip a little earlier than otherwise but I'm sure you'll be fine.

  • I'm sure you'll be fine

    Quoted for future reference 😉

  • Cheers. This is to be a bike to pootle in dry weather anyway so I won't be pushing it to the limits. I'm sure my confidence will run out before grip does.

  • My £3 bargain. Mega happy with it, just needs a leather clean and fitting on the olagnero!

  • Not really a 'current' project, but one that has been going on for some years. Managed to take some pictures of my finished Colnago Super 1984 today. Started as the wreck in the picture and then took some years to turn into the finished bike. Purists might disagree with the Mavic hubs and Simplex retrofriction shifters but in my opinion they're superior over their Italian alternatives.

Having started down that road, you might as well get a Suntour rear dérailleur and actually enjoy gear changes :)

  • Point taken. But this one has titaniumzzz :) . You're referring to the Superbe group I suppose?

  • You're referring to the Superbe group I suppose?

My first thought was VX, that's what we used in the early 80s to get shifting 10 times better than Super Record :) Obviously Cyclone or Superbe would be prettier.

  • Am I better off just buying a new rear derailleur, than trying to resolve the bentness of the current one? I've tried a few times to get it back right but it still derails on the jockey wheels on slight potholes. I guess it's only £30 for a new Shimano 105 5800 one, so I've probably answered my own question.

  • Swept back bars on nag, bit too narrow so will probably go back to flats . Ignore straps

  • also looking for fork for the above bike with brake hole if anyone is selling anything. Alternatively, i've had a crazy idea of brazing on some canti studs to the unknown fork.

  • Any thoughts on this yellow saddle? Quite like it as opposed the usual black! But maybe the purple is lairy enough without the need for distracting saddles.

If it stays, any good recommendations for bar tape that matches the Flite yellow also welcome :) or would that just be total anti / overkill.

Finally putting the tyres that @Lolo sold me to use as well

    Fizik Superlight:

  • had some yellow sell italia tape to match mine, would not recommend.
