Bedford isn't the most exciting but it has massive run off, it'll give you a good taste of a few different types of corners and it has big straights for some big speed too.
I have a Hedtec, which some people sneer at but it's got the appropriate Snell rating and it's <£200. Helmets are very head specific though so I thoroughly recommend going to a shop to try them on. Make a day of it, visit Demon Tweeks or Merlin at Castle Coombe, and try a bunch on, DT will do a discount buying in store vs online too.
