  • Joining the family. Size 53, I'm 1,75 m, inseam 84 cm, looks small but isn't.
Will be upgrading the wheels, any recommendations? Looking for something in the entry level..maybe Miche or Mavic
The stem and handlebar will also go to 31,8 mm for additional stiffness.

Ohh and the ride? Amazing, lost for words...light, responsive, soft.

  • Welcome, and great that you're loving your 'roller!

RE wheels, maybe look at going to your LBS and seeing what they can build you. Lot's of riders across the forum (me included) use or have used H PLUS SON Archetype, Hydra or TB14 rims on a variety of hubs and they're great for everyday use.

  • I'm thinking deeply about getting a steamroller but I can't help but feel the geo looks different in various pictures? Are there differences between years etc?

Another alternative might be the cinelli tutto but a bit more £££

This image pretty much sums up what I hope to achieve. Help appreciated!

  • Your image looks like an early threaded 1" steerer with quill stem. They may have altered slightly since 1" 1/8 was phased in.

  • It is pretty sexy though - or maybe just clean?!

  • just had a quick look. 56cm stats seem unchanged since inception in 2000. Only fork and headtube from 1" to 1" 1/8

@Stroller black crank away from perfect :) looks like a courier aid sticker on seat tube, messengers sunday best ?

  • Then again taste is subjective to the eye of the beholder, so says the man with a leopard print denim saddle and orange bits on his Biek :)

  • All i can find comparing stats is current fork is 7mm longer at 375mm over old fork at 368mm.

18 years old and nothings changed........ only millions of industry standards, how many other brands have an 18 year old frame design still being sold ? timeless classic, right first time, out of date...

  • @853Superfly excellent - appreciate the info! Going to find a 53cm... at 5'7" I imagine that's my best starting point. This thread has been an inspiration!

  • Yup, I’m just under 5ft 7 and I ride a 53 with flat bars comfortably with the stem slammed.

  • Oh jeez look at this colour!!!!

  • Would look nice with a black carbon fork too I bet.

  • Hubs are silver. So I'd go with black chainring and pedals, but keep the silver crankset.

  • If anyone has a 53cm F+F for sale? Or would contemplate selling? Got cash put aside for new but thought i should ask here before i pull trigger on impulse new purchase.

  • Got some Colorado red forks if they’re of any use? I put some carbon forks on mine soon after purchase so pretty much as new.

  • Thanks - if i can find a frame (any colour) then i will likely take you up on that.

  • I just hope i can restrain myself from just going and buying the frameset new!

  • Any alternative to the steamroller (as in, big clearance) but a bit lighter?

  • Be patient.
I waited 2 weeks when I got excited for one and found a frame with probably 10miles on it, in my favourite steamroller colour for less than half rrp...

  • @MisterMikkel we might become HHSSR :)

    (HipHopSlaveSteamRoller)

  • Nah. Pretty sure you need a WI crankset, phil hubs and a smothering of Sim Works finishing kit for that. But close.

  • I should wait, sensible advice... but I don't know if I can. I like that ministry grey colour. Anyone seen it in real life? Thoughts on accompanying colour of components on a bike that colour ?

  • Found new F&F for £360 from activesport

  • What bars are they?
    Cheers

  • I have seen it in the flesh, it’s a fancy silver like a new Audi. I like it a lot.
