So good!

Anywhere you need travel like that those bars will be an issue. Anywhere those bars are good the travel is pointless weight.
Also no lockout?

Here's my gravel/cx in commuting attire. Just changed from Schwalbe Marathon Supreme HD's to Challenge Strada Biancha, love the new tyres, so supple!

At what point are you better off just buying a fucking mtb

So much this^

Does anyone know of any gravel bars with flattened tops? Currently got Zipp sl-70 ergo and could do with a bit more out sweep.

It's got MTB clearance, MTB crankset, MTB fork, looks to me like it's an MTB with a dropbar fitted..
-
• #4184
Look at the back wheel: no clearance.

I could imagine it being okay in some circumstances. Long, straight, flat, fast, bumpy roads basically where you can make use of the drops to be aero but need suspension to cushion the road. Maybe it'd work on big cobbles for example. Drop bars are only a pain on MTB-type-things when you have to turn.
But MTB + aero bars is probably better

Yeah challenges are stuff that dreams are made of.
Neat biek. You sure those mid-mounts are ok with a rack? -

Yeah, but those are plus tires right (3.0")? Would imagine the clearance would be ok with regular sized MTB tires. Or 27.5" wheels even.

The Landyachtz Monstercross frame was built for a 1,000 km race of which "The route primarily follows old rail lines with some singletrack thrown in and a whole lot of climbing."
On Prolly - http://theradavist.com/2018/05/georges-landyachtz-titanium-drop-bar-29-is-a-beast-morgan-taylor/#1
56 top tube on the medium, so not MTB shaped - https://landyachtzbikes.com/product/monsterbike-titanium-frame/
And a Curve GMX (which'll take 29x2.4)

Cool stuff, seems perfect for it's purpose.

Interesting point of discussion, is the toptube where the MTBs are separated from the road/cross/gravel bikes?
-
• #4191
No. There are a vast number of other differences, such as head tube angle, chainstay length and axle to crown height.
-
• #4192
Headtube angle and axle to crown height on this is basic MTB stuff right?
-
• #4195
For the sake of clarity I don't think a gravel bike should weigh 15kg, have a 10gi lowest gear and 3'' tyres.

A lots of modern MTB's headtube are very slack, like 67, 68 degrees, a "gravel" bike is a lots more aggressive between 70 to 72 degrees.

Oval tops any good? Only one degree more sweep: Satori X-Race Aero if you ride a 42cm. The carbon option is a good price.

Interesting point! Obviously this bike pushes into a really grey area between MTBs and gravel bikes. For me the BB/crankset that can be fitted was always the decider, but toptube + headtube angle can be a good criterium.

the new warbird looks really nice. and apparently giant has a new gravel bike in the works.
That would fit right into the Tight Clearance thread!
