I’ve had good success using hosepipe clamps on my Croix de get (before it changed to the third bottle cage mount). I used a bit of old inner tube to stop it scratching the frame, and haven’t had any issues when carrying standard 750ml bottles.
I do use a toe strap just to be sure the bottle stays put as it’s a cheapo cage I used, and don’t tighten the clamps too tight as I can imagine it’s be easy to cause damage/crush the downtube.
There’s a picture on pg1 of this thread if you wanted to see.
Re lowering bottle cages, mount skidmore do a dropper mount, and there was one reviews on road.cc recently by Topeak(?). Others have had success with the di2 battery holder but I can’t say much about that.
I've just ordered three king cage usbs. Two to use on the down tube as you have done and one for the seat tube. I eyeballed it but I think I can use the lower braze on and one clamp to mount the bottle cage one step down.
