  • Currently kitting out a genesis equlibrium (medium 2017) for some big bike packing trips. Has anyone attempted or had any issue with mounting a bottle holder underneath the down tube?

I've got a frame bag in the main triangle and struggling to get more than two 500ml bottles in the frame. I was also going to try and mount a bottle cage further down the inside of the seat tube but concerned that it won't be able to get past the clamp on derailleur.

    I need water man!

  • check out the minoura sbh-300. allows 2 bottle cages to be mounted on the saddle rails. can also easily bungee a dry bag or tent to it (unless youre gonna use a saddle pack i suppose)

  • I’ve had good success using hosepipe clamps on my Croix de get (before it changed to the third bottle cage mount). I used a bit of old inner tube to stop it scratching the frame, and haven’t had any issues when carrying standard 750ml bottles.

I do use a toe strap just to be sure the bottle stays put as it’s a cheapo cage I used, and don’t tighten the clamps too tight as I can imagine it’s be easy to cause damage/crush the downtube.

There’s a picture on pg1 of this thread if you wanted to see.

Re lowering bottle cages, mount skidmore do a dropper mount, and there was one reviews on road.cc recently by Topeak(?). Others have had success with the di2 battery holder but I can’t say much about that.
