My thinking was to have stuff in carrier bags inside the frame bag to take into work leaving the frame bag attached

Works the same with a Carradice, I have a nylon shopping bag that always lives in mine - initially it was a necessity because one is an older model that doesn't have the nylon liner/cord lock, but they're in all the saddle bags I have.
