You may have an issue with the cane creek. The flanges are longer than the bevel in the headtube on a lot of those older dales, Ive had this issue a couple of time.
mpart work fine, but the very cheap one is made poorly, I had to use loctite bearing seat compound to settle it in the frame.

Cheers. I'd rather avoid M-Part and the like because it does look a bit cheap and nasty. There was a Chris King one on sale here for £65 recently. I've not decided on the build, so can't make up my mind as to whether silver or black is better. Ritchey do a 1" headset that seems to only be available with one silver cup and one black one. Weird.
and don't get me started on 1" stems! They basically don't exist in any practical sense. Shim ahoy.

Cheers Heldring. That picture's crap, sorry. The fork's a really nice Kinesis in immaculate condition that was apparently intended for some Softride bike or other.
The frame may or may not be a respray - I suspect it is.
