  • Nah, this is what I thought I'd ask, but the whole reason for going to a bike shop rather than getting a friend who had been a mechanic for years is partly parts warranty, partly I could pop into a shop anytime in the first few weeks for fine adjustments etc etc. My initial plan was to pay my friend to build and get parts from the Interent, so as much as I love Harvey, without a shop, he is a bit like my friend, if you see what I mean? I can't keep knocking on Harvey's door everytime I want my gear adjusted or whatnot and I know with this build (it will be the most expensive bike I will own), I will want to be very very critical about everything, so I will probably be a nightmare customer on this count.

Still feeling sad about it... :-(

  • Makes sense if you have multiple mechanics you can trust but only a few of them come with warranty. Some people are very "this person is my bike mechanic" so warranty or not they want that person.

Harvey seemed happy enough with it so I don't mind much, if he was down about it then I'd be more sad.
