• The M525A doesn't have the nice big rubber outer seals like the M525. Think the 'A' is a cheapo OEM spec one.
If you don't mind 36h, last time I bought one an M525 they were £8 at SJS cycles (exc. postage)

EDIT: so is this for a front hub rather than a converted fixed rear? That axle won't work as the cone nuts in the two shimano hubs are M10x1 threaded.

  • Ah ok cheers, I do need 32h so will just have to suck up the difference unfortunately.

Yep its for a front hub - so the velosolo as tester pointed out does them, but I thought 170mm axle was too long for a front hub?

  • the 10mm axle's also too thick to fit in a fork end, unless you have a lathe...

  • its for a front hub

If you want your front disc hub secured in your fork with track nuts, pretty much any common QR cup & cone hub with M9x1 threading (i.e. not 525/755/756) can have it's hollow axle replaced with a length of M9x1 studding or that axle you found.

When I wanted a similar arrangement, I used a 9mm through bolt hub with M9x1 studding and track nuts in place of the fat skewer. Many 15mm and 12mm through bolt hubs can be converted to 9mm with either manufacturers' accessories or aftermarket conversion bushings.
