Scott weren't helpful, I've just bought a handful off ebay to try out including the shimano one... The first one was a fail. The issue is the flat part that feeds to the front derailleur, as most are rounded for a steel frame.
As an aside, there is someone in Liverpool who seems to have an archive of vintage cable guides. Lol.
