  • Is mike at Kinetics the same as @Mikenetic ?

  • Same here, my one is from 1992, it just looks cheaply made. For the bike price tag, a proper crown and forged drop outs would be nice.
Of course there's the Ti option...

  • 1992... things have changed a little bit :')

  • Has the steel fork changed since then apart from going 1-1/8?

  • Nope! Not unless I lead a secret second life I know nothing about.

    :)

  • My brompton needs the BB to be swapped in that recall so need to drop it in a shop. While I do that is it worth getting compassionless housing for cables? Brakes feel spongy, could be down to lengths.

  • Tell me when you do it, mine feels like that, but this is maybe because I came from a disc brake and now back to rim brakes seems a little slow to react :/

  • IMO, no. You need linear cabling to cope with the folding/routing. If the pads are not set up properly thats generally the biggest issue/not hitting the rim equally.

You can also use the 3mm adjustment screw on the top of the brake to adjust the brake feel.

I will have a go at that. The pads are defo set up properly.

  • You read my mind perfectly!

  • question time,

Berry crush or lagoon blue black edition?!

  • I'm loving my lagoon blue one, albeit not black edition (i.e. blue and black are inverted, in mine stem holder (it's not a headtube, what's called?) and rear triangle are blue and main frame is black with silver components.

  • my other half has a custom lagoon/BE and its rad, I think i like it enough to have one, but also like the berry crush/BE idea

  • Ya or na?

  • Buying a 2nd already?

  • If one plans to keep it, then ya, I like it.
If one plans to sell it at a later time...na, not everyone likes it.

  • There are two ways to go.
    Unpainted / lacquered.
    Black.
    Anything else is just ........

  • If I was to get another one it would be the electric one.

  • Nah, black used to be functional in that you could save a ton that way, but now? Let your colourful freak flag fly, I say.

That ^^^^^ NYC one is a looker IMO.

  • They're pretty much compressionless cable, just more fancy and they only work in short sections.

As for using this on a Brompton I don't think they're meant to go full length as the segments of the alu bits means that they'll sag and not hold shape as good as conventional cables. They're meant to be good for tight turns cabling setups anyways so no surprise here.

That said, I have a set if you wanna have a go.

Installed but didn't like it and back in the box it went, 35 and it's all yours.

  • This.

One of the reason why I would go disc on mine. The current forks just looks way too cheap!

The other rain being I wanna have blacked out braking surface! ;)

  • They’re doing another run of 9th street @HoKe, I’m tempted... but also like the orange and black edition.

It would be great if they decided to use the Brompton Electric fork across the range, that thing is tasty (probably heavier but damn good lookin)

Tried to Google image this but no detailed shots, what does it look like?

  • Agreed the 9th street edition is probably one of the nicest Brompton to date!

I like to see what they’re going to do with gen 2 (improve range/make it lighter) when my knees finally goes this is probably my next purchase.
