Following this guide; https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.technipages.com/windows-10-fix-unmountable-boot-volume-error/amp
I retried Chkdsk from the HD without using a CD or USB with Win10 on it.
Stages 1-3 seemed to work. But then at the end of stage 4, the computer said no.
Or more specifically:
Stage 4: looking for bad clusters in user file data ... Windows replaced bad clusters in file 3EAED of name \Windows\INFUSE~1\Packages\MI63A3~1.0_X\Assets\SECOND~1\Place\LargeTile.scale-200.png Windows replaced bad clusters in file 40C5A of name \Windows\WinSxS\AM7AC6~1.15_\xrWPdeft.xst. 510704 files processed. looking to see if a sheet metal whizz could replicate
I'd be surprised if anybody could replicate that case as a one-off for less than the cost of buying a new W-APS-08, assuming you want it to look somewhat nice. On closer inspection, I'd say the GrabCAD files are more like 5% of the way to something you could send out for manufacture.

Doesn't need to look fancy at all - just needs to fit (going inside a rack shelf so it'll never be seen for the most part. But yes, appreciate it'll be costly - I just don't like the idea of buying something new just to rip it apart.

What size is that? 2/3rds 19" rack? Is anything more complicated than distribution sockets/wiring going inside it? If it's just a straight forward PDU, I'd talk to someone like Penn Elcom and see if they'll cut down one of their modular full length units.

You got it, 19" rack - the Teranex devices come in 1/3rd increments and I have 2/3rds of one RU left.
Unfortunately though it's not exactly two thirds either in width or height as you have to account for the stupid proprietary shelf: https://www.proav.co.uk/blackmagic-design-teranex-mini-rack-shelf
So needs to be a mil or three lower than full height and 280mm wide.
I was thinking someone like Penn - actually tried Olson first but they just laughed and said not worth their time.
Ideally I'd like 3 x c13 slots and 1 UK plug on the rear (the plug might have to be ditched as will be a v. tight squeeze) with a master switch on the front along with a pair of charging USB slots. But frankly I'd take what I can get at this stage.
If I get paid by a (very late) client I might just splurge but if I can find anyone who can replicate the ATEM case for less than a few hundred that's my starting point.

I used to work somewhere that imported/distributed PDUs and a lot of them are basically just aluminium extrusion with modules/spacers that slide in and busbars/cables connecting the modules behind. If you’ve got access to a mitre saw it’s dead easy to dissemble and trim one to length. The height is more tricky...
-
• #91658
Yep - the height has been the stumbling block on every discussion I've had so far.
Presumably the metal doesn't need to be some kind of folded sheet with a base panel though?
I wonder in that case what's stopping me getting somewhere like this to cut 6 panels to size and piecing them together? https://www.lasermaster.co.uk/
They might even do complex bits like the air vents on the sides.
Ugh. I blame Blackmagic and their ridiculously sized units.

^they do folding too and weirdly Mrs CYOAs mother lives in Redruth... could be fate. I've left them a note and will follow up this week. Have a friend who's an electrical engineer to do all the inner stuff if I can just get him a case. Crossing fingers.

Sounds like it could be a winner, panel mount sockets/switches are cheap too.

Right, next question.
I'd like a powerpoint presentation playing on two laptops that aren't networked to change slides at the same time.
Is there a way I can link two usb dongle things to one wireless clicker thing? Or is there a brand that already offers this?

morning
I've got some campagnolo hubs built onto mavic rims by harry hall that I want to sell - where do i find out what model the hubs are?
They're screw on freewheel ones - should I be looking for a serial number? -
• #91667
cheers
-
• #91668
Or post pics of the hubs on here :). For older hubs there are basically 4 options perming small / large flange and Nuovo Record / Nuovo Tipo.

That was my initial thought, but of course Triomphe and Victory are now old too :) I've had both, and C-Record in both LF and SF screw-on too.
-
• #91670
Yep, you are right about what is now "old" :).

I have a pair of AGPTEK that my partner and I use. The UI is a little weird but the battery lasts a long while and you can put in a microSD for no need to spend a lot on the player.

A brief forum search didn't throw anything up. Whats the hive mind best practice for new chains - keep the factory grease or degrease and lube? Also, follow up: hive mind approved lube that isn't more expensive than the chain
-

keep the factory grease
This.
approved lube
Any dry lube on sale. But as to the price vs a chain, it does last a long time - I've only ever bought one wet lube and one dry lube in the last 10yrs and that includes using the wet lube for brake/gear cables.

If I've bought something online, and it is faulty, is the seller obliged to accept the return and issue a refund if that's the course of action that I want?
Or can they insist on doing an exchange?
-
• #91675
Under the Consumer Rights Act you have an early right to reject goods that are unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described, and get a full refund.
But this right is limited to 30 days from the date you took ownership of the goods (this could be the date of purchase or the date the goods were delivered to you - whichever is later).
After the initial 30 days, you can't demand a full refund in the first instance, but you still have the right to a repair or replacement - including electrical faulty goods.https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-a-faulty-product
Thanks @Tijmen and @mdcc_tester
Basically I want a metal case the exact dimensions of one of these with the intention of using the case to house a PDU:
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/products/atemtelevisionstudio/techspecs/W-APS-08
But as you can see from this link, although the measurements are 44mm high, there's actually a lip at the front so the main measurement is going to be slightly smaller.
I could see if I could buy a broken/faulty unit and strip it out but it's a bit needle in a haystack so looking to see if a sheet metal whizz could replicate : /
