Great frame. Have you had it built up, how’s the steering? Those bearing indents look pretty deep.
-
• #6
Those are punches to hold the crown race, the bearings would be in the headset so wouldn't effect the steering
-
• #7
Yup they are there to hold the crown race.

This is amazing frameset, but I think the price is a bit too high even for this.

How much do you think it's worth and why? There's a Casati track frame on here that was dropped to 550 and noone blinked at the price. Plus if it was my size I'd probably pay more for it if I were a buyer but cause it's the forum I want back what I paid otherwise will go to eBay

I have been looking at a Casati like this for quite a while and came close to get one a few times, but decided not too for now. The highest price I've been offered was 250 euro.
Not even some Colnago go for that kind of money.
Track frames usually go for more than road frames anyway. And Casati track frames are not so easy to get by.If that's what you paid for it, then fair enough, but I still think you overpaid for it.
Could be that they're easier to find in Italy and, as such, cheaper. Not sure.
Please just don't read this as a finger pointing thingy.

Fair enough. I would say that a Casati is worth more than a Colnago cause they are so difficult to find, especially in VGC like this. Nagos are 10 a penny, even in good condition. I would say that 250 is massively underpriced and would be more like it if the frame was in poor condition. Also while it's difficult to find track frames, therefore making them more expensive, the same goes for Casati Road frames so I don't see much of a price difference.
Anyway people are welcome to make offers but it will otherwise go elsewhere if I don't sell it here soon.

This is an SLX New that was an SL, so there's of course more, not saying you should ask for 250 euro.

How tall are you?

er...?

If I know how tall you are I might have a better idea if the size is right for me. I am 5’7”.

It doesn't fit me though....I'm 5'6 ish

My current frame is 54cm square with the ST being c2t....so I could get away with a. 56cm ST if it is c2t...if c2c then it will be too big for me.
27.2mm seat tube?
What are you replacing it with?

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I have been away.
Yes apologies, I wrote it on incorrectly, doh, measurements are in fact as follows (OP corrected):
Measurements:
Seat Tube (c-t) 56cm
Top Tube (c-c) 54cmSo it may fit you...?
Yup 27.2mm seat tube. I unfortunately have never really ridden it so the search goes on for a 52 square Casati!
Let me know if you still have any interest

Electric purple bikes are the best bikes.
If I weren't perpetually impoverished I'd have your arm off, beautiful frameset.

Price drop to £500?
For Sale is my dream frame, a beautiful early 1990s steel Casati.
These are pretty rare and hard to find now as Casati is a small but excellent frame builder in Monza, Italy.
Pictures speak for themselves but it really is a beauty. Some absolutely stunning detailing, especially on the top of the seat stays. Unfortunately too big for me.
Selling the Frame and Forks in great condition. There are a couple of very small nicks to the paintwork but otherwise it looks excellent.
£475, preferably picked up from London (Clapton)
Tubeset: Colombus SLX New
Measurements:
Seat Tube (c-t) 56cm
Top Tube (c-c) 54cm
