  • Nah. Nothing left to buy.

  • And again. Rolling with the Velo Club Allschwill, @Cycliste 's Swiss cycling club.

  • Spent Thursday to Sunday with Pannier CC on a test run of their new guided tour in Mid-Wales. Amazing weather and incredible roads.

  • Sunny 140 km ride in "Tour of Flanders"-region. So much more fun when sunny and warm than in early April.

Photo was taken in Ronse, where World Championships were held in 1968 and 1989.

  • Just in case we hadn't had enough Mont Ventoux in the last few days, a 3-times-up-Mont-Ventoux challenge today.

  • Weekend warrior mode was fully engaged after a rubbish nights sleep. Did the Toys & Brasted Double today PB on both and the double. Plus a top 10 on another climb and even an insignificant KOM.
It was lovely out; first on the Kent boarder, then approaching Brastead shrouded in summer mist.

  • More madness today - the Gran Fondo Nove Colli. I did it in almost exactly the same time I did it in last year. It was bogging hot today though - Garmin said max temp 29degC.

  • Haha way to make my look insignificant! Top effort. Any pics?

  • It that was supposed to be a reply to your "Madness I love it" post about last weekend's jollies on Mont Ventoux rather than blatant one-upmanship, I should add! Love the pics of your ride, especially the first - very mistily moody. Sadly, the only pic I have is from before the start - after we set off I was only off the bike for 8 minutes, and that was spent grabbing fluids rather than snaps.

Anyway, here's the start. Only a small fraction of the overall of number of participants in shot - 12,500 people do this event every year...

  • Haha I know it wasn’t, I was only joking.
Looks great, love those early morning starts with a big group. Was it closed road?

  • It's closed road at first - it has to be, given that the first 25km is the main road out of town, but then it becomes not closed road at some unspecified point, before becoming closed road again as you go back into Cesenatico. I think for me today it was basically closed road up to the bit where you head off for the extra loop which makes the difference between the 130km Medio Fondo and the 204km Grand Fondo. The traffic's very light though even when the roads are open to traffic - you obviously just have to be a bit more careful about cutting corners and overtakes on the wrong side of the road. The drive of a big black Range Rover and I both had a bit of a fright during last year's event as I hadn't realised that it wasn't closed road any more on a fast descent.

  • Crazy ride stats, but the temp ain't not that bad rly!

  • Horses for courses. I start feeling all wobbly and faint as soon as the temperature gets above 20!

  • Tongue-in-cheek of course ... just remembering my last fondo this year ... 10 degrees lower and I would have sailed through that thing easy!

Long term goal is to do the 3 peaks challenge next year, if, and that's a big if, I ever get myself strong and fit enough for that sort of ride. That should come close to your stats above. Until then I'm in awe of it!

  • 105km training ride on my TT bike yesterday. Mountain bike race today at round 5 of the Mud Sweat and Gears Eastern Series at Carver Barracks. Now feeling quite broken.

  • Saw the aftermath of two nasty looking crashes today. One in the Surrey Hills (bottom of Combe Lane descent on a sharp bend) the other in Richmond Park. Hope everyone's OK.

  • None of my cyclofriends were available so I smashed out 100km solo on Saturday. Seems that all you need to go fast is to not stop. 6 minutes is acceptable.

  • Lovely lazy 3o miles this evening, was hot and dry and almost no one out. Guessing bbq's...

  • 50km lumpy ride in the South Downs, followed by BBQ for lunch, and BBQ for dinner.

    Great Bank holiday Monday!

  • You are fully mad.
    Next weekend? Early doors?

  • We're in Edinburgh next weekend. Doing a longish one on Saturday the 9th though...
