The old USA synapses were shit.

The current version and the version before it are good.

The current version is designed and positioned as as an endurance adventure bike, not a race bike, so it’s kinda like moaning about the stack on an Arkose. If you are doing sportives they still want you to buy an Evo - but the new Synapse will do the job too.

That guy looks like he went into a shop a went "I need a bike, and all the gear", the Synapse how ever great they are, I just wouldn't ever consider them cool.

Etap might be easier to come by?

its true. I just saw some (albeit smaller sizes) in my lbs and they looked far more racey than previous models. unfortunately that clearly does not translate to the larger models

Probably a 58cm here, the rider (will clarke) is 6'3" apparently, but a pro, so llikely not a 60cm and looks too big to be a 56cm..
