  • I'd say so. Very neat, anyway

  • Hmm, think I'm going to go for the Jagwire Mickey adjusters:

  • Ah.
    I avoid sweating.

  • Can I use "tubeless" yellow tape if I'm running tubes, rather than normal cloth tape?

  • Do I still need to do a couple of loops like with tubeless or is one wrap fine?

  • Ah, nevermind I found a roll of 16mm Velox!

  • Would I be better off with an inline adjuster?

I have inline next to the dérailleur to provide adjustment on my Red Doubletap x X0DH set up. The great thing about SRAM is that you only have to adjust it once.

  • Smart! Remembering for when I run out of inlines

  • kinda topical but can you get away with not having barrel adjuster on shimano 5800 FD and adjust cable tension it like Sram YAW
    ?

  • Where can I buy a ream of decent quality A3 printer paper today or tomorrow? Just plain white for a laser printer but maybe 100gsm.
Already tried PC World and Ryman, only seem to have 80gsm in the shops. Ryman have 100gsm but online only.

  • What about a printing shop? SNappy SNaps type thing?

  • Staples do 160gsm on their website, they'll probably have it in store.

  • Staples shops are no more, as far as I can tell. Their online delivery is pretty efficient, I just didn't think of it in time... Although the Staples-esque Office Outlet on OKR might do it.

  • Ohh right. There's a big out-of-town shopping place round the corner from my work that had a staples, PC World, bennets, comet, curries etc. and I'm constantly suggesting to people to try one of those for various things they're after only to be told they closed x-years ago.

  • Can't speak for that specific derailleur you mention, however: you can tension nearly any derailleur without barrell adjusters using a combination of limit screws and wedging the chain onto the wrong sprocket/chainring.

  • I tried the YAW method, Shimano limit screws aren't as long, it worked somewhat though.

  • Hobby Craft, Purely Way

  • Round the corner from Chastity square?

  • Thought I'd post here as it gets a bit more volume...

Windows laptop. Originally had Win7, but was upgraded to Win10 a while back - whenever the free upgrade was. It's never had any problems accept for sometimes playing up when the HDMI cable is left in when it's closed and then opened again. The HDMI cable was left in and then it stopped working properly.

    problem:

    • screen stuck in a spinning circle of dots
    • on one occasion was told error = unmountable boot volume
    • after that tried the steps on this tutorial:
      https://youtu.be/q4rp--5xWSg

However, in the command menu(?) I went through all the steps, until 18:23

after hitting "A" at 18:36 he says; "you should be good to go" - does this mean it will do something, because nothing happens?

Or is the idea of this that you then use this copy to boot from, in which case how?

    Cheers.

ps Any other guides would be appreciated.

  • Any CAD whizzes able to tell me if this file is just a pretty picture or if it could be used as a basis for fabricating the case to the same spec?

  • Why did I decide to run the oven cleaning program today?
    #sohot.

  • In theory, yes. You should be able to import the stp file into any common CAD program and design around the existing geometry. However, in my experience GrabCAD files aren't very dependable. Some are spot on, some are just a pretty picture with wildly inaccurate dimension.

As this one has been drawn as reference for button and connector lay-out I 'd expect those to be on point, but there is a chance the radius of the fillets and other details are just approximations. I'd do some measurements to crosscheck, and ask yourself how accurate everything needs to be.

  • From the renders, I'd say it's a long way from being a design that's anywhere near ready to send to a fabricator. If you like the general layout, you might be able to use it as the basis of a design, but without seeing the IGES files I couldn't say whether it's 10% or 90% done.
