He really 'charged up' the field
-
• #7529
He's a very strong rider (obviously) but his bike handling sucks. He was testing out his phantom aero bars in a crit I was riding last year, which obviously went down very well with the rest of us. That and general swinging about all over the shop. It's very possible that the break thought it might be safer for all concerned if he went off on his own up the road...

Are you talking about Alex Richardson or Arlen now?
-
• #7531
Is there any motor testing of bikes at these events?
Does the guy post PM data etc on Strava? -
• #7532
Front group, then chasing group containing Canyon and Wiggins, he bridged to the chasing group solo. One of the guys in the Canyon/wiggins group said they were going “fucking hard” and he’s the best rider I know and one of the best riders in the country.

Interesting that he’s not put up the UKAD test results yet after that outrage and bluster of his come at me postings... supposed to be 2-3 weeks for them to come back and been well over a month now.
Probably just delayed but maybe he’s not been as clever as he thinks?
-

I think my results from UKAD took a couple of months to arrive from memory.
Yup 31st July sample and 1 October results letter.

ha! good old British efficiency.
Would taking 'roids or HGH in the off-season still give benefits in recovery months later anyway though? I know there's supposed to be lasting residual/permanent effects, but never seen much by the way of solid data on what that would be in terms of percentages etc. Even if clean Lance 2.0 was still not at the sharp end of things on his return...
-
• #7536
Yeah, pretty sure it would and I think there are various research papers showing that is the case.

So what's he saying?
He tried to loose weight, he was burning out, team supported him, he left team. Very soon after, wins race?
I love the comment from George

Yeah found that a bit confusing.
-
• #7539
Didn't George (Harper) ride for One Pro Cycling previously?
-
• #7540
'Resigned' in Nov 17.

Arlen crashed in 2016 and had an amazing 2017.
Is this the sort of stuff we're talking about? -

Just watched the Eurosport Lincoln GP highlights. What a weird race. Looks like all the hitters shredded themselves in two attempted early breaks, but so did the rest of the pros chasing them. Didn't see Arlen at all in the highlights but my guess is he surfed the wheels in the first half, didn't give up when the race splintered and caught back on when the peloton sat up with 25km to go. No evidence of doping imo.

No evidence of doping imo.
You can tell from watching race highlights on tv? Mate, the UCI need you.
-
• #7544
Haha no, hence imo. Just saying it's no clear cut evidence of doping imo
-
• #7545
I know, I'm just kidding you.
Let's leave it to UKAD, if they think he's doping they'll be target testing him.
-
• #7546
Agreed. It did seem to be an odd race though, Richardson's winning breakaway looked almost accidental and he seemed absolutely knackered on that last ascent of Michaelgate. As you say, very hard to tell from highlights.

....no, I don't follow him, just have a direct link to his profile.
-
• #7549
Is it just me, or is this troubling?
UKAD should be clearly independent, this compromises that and seems ill advised at best.

That sounds like a feckin' bad idea to me. Did someone at BC just watch Icarus and think "woah, that would make it way easier, no more jiffy bag controversies.."
Did he then go off in chase of the break solo? The VeloUK tweet above suggests he did
